Titans, Warhawks Battle To Stay Unbeaten

The highest-ranked football game in Titan Stadium history will be Saturday (Oct. 26), when #9 UW-Oshkosh hosts #5 UW-Whitewater at 1 p.m.

Both the Titans and Warhawks enter the contest with a 6-0 record (3-0 WIAC). UW-Oshkosh has won 18 straight regular season games, along with 10 consecutive at home. The winner will have the upper hand in the league title race. The Titans won the 2012 WIAC crown after UW-Whitewater captured the previous seven.

UW-Oshkosh hasn't turned the ball over in three WIAC games, while taking it away 10 times. Last week, four different Titans intercepted a pass during the 41-13 triumph at River Falls. Cole Myhra paced the offense with 154 yards and four touchdowns rushing.

Myhra leads the league with 13 touchdowns and 783 all-purpose yards (567 rushing, 216 receiving). Nick Olla has 10 touchdowns while averaging 256 passing yards per game. The Titans have an explosive group of receivers with Caleb Voss (420 yards), Zach Kasuboski (301), Joe Sommers (271) and Cory Wipperfurth (204).

UW-Oshkosh's defense ranks second in the NCAA Division III with 16 interceptions and ninth with 23 sacks. The unit features 50 tackles from Reese Dziedzic, nine tackles for loss by Ryan Stefaniak and five sacks by Cody Huemmer.

The Warhawks bring a dominant defense that ranks second nationally in scoring (6.2 points), third in total yards (196.2) and fourth in third down conversions (22 percent). Cole Klotz tops the team with 40 tackles, while Brady Grayvold has three interceptions.

UW-Whitewater defeated UW-La Crosse, UW-Stout and UW-Eau Claire the last three weeks, winning each by 42+ points. Four Warhawks have at least 150 rushing yards, including 387 with four touchdowns from Jordan Ratliffe. Jake Kumerow leads the receivers with 606 yards and 10 scores.

Quarterback Matt Behrendt hasn't thrown an interception in his last 185 attempts. This season, he owns 1,407 yards and 18 touchdowns through the air.

The Titans went to Whitewater during 2012 and snapped the Warhawks' 26-game conference winning streak with a 28-13 decision. It was UW-Oshkosh's second win in the series since 1988. This will be the 105th meeting between the teams dating back to 1897.
