Titans Give Up Late Lead to Fall to Raiders

MILWAUKEE, Wis.- The No. 25 nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh baseball team allowed runs in the sixth and eighth innings, giving up a late lead and falling to the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Tuesday night.

Logan King earned the start for the Titans while Nolan Vincent started for the Raiders.

Oshkosh put two on base in the top of the first inning but stranded both when Zach Taylor lined out into a double play. After MSOE singled and walked to start the bottom of the first, they moved the runners to second and third on a balk before Micah Overley doubled, scoring one. They scored again during the next at bat, with a groundout RBI from Collin Truitt. Overley eventually advanced to third and was sent home on another balk. The Titans trailed 3-0 after the third out of the inning was recorded.

Neither team recorded a run in the second or third. The Raiders stranded one in the second and the Titans stranded two in the third.

Taylor singled to open the fourth and advanced to second when Mason Kirchberg hit a single to left field. He scored Oshkosh's first run of the game on Connor Giusti's double that also advanced Kirchberg to third. Chase Marsh moved Kirchberg home and Giusti tried to score but was thrown out at home to end the inning. King forced the Raiders out in order to bring Oshkosh back up to bat.

With Matt Scherrman on base, Taylor hit his fourth home run of the season to give Oshkosh a 4-3 lead. In the bottom of the fifth, King once again recorded three straight outs.

The Titans got three on base but was not able to get them home in the top of the sixth and MSOE singled in the bottom, sending a run home to tie the game back up.

Each team left a runner on base in the seventh and Oshkosh struck out in order in the top of the eighth.

Another single from MSOE gave the Raiders the lead again in the bottom of the eighth when Kyle Labedz sent Overley home. Three up, three down in the top of the ninth ended the game with the Titans losing 4-5. Oshkosh fell to 9-3 on the season.
