Titans Sweep WIAC Baseball Athlete Of The Week Citations

UW-Oshkosh swept the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Kwik Trip Baseball Athlete of the Week awards as freshman pitcher Connor Brinkman and sophomore infielder/outfielder Jake Surane were honored for their efforts in games played April 18-24.

Brinkman was named the conference's top pitcher for the week while Surane was chosen as the league's best position player. It was the second straight conference weekly award for Surane and the third of the season for Brinkman.

Brinkman permitted just one run in 11 innings to earn the home win against UW-Eau Claire on April 19 and a save against visiting UW-Platteville on April 24.

Brinkman posted a 0.82 earned run average during his two appearances with five strikeouts and 11 hits allowed.

During UW-Oshkosh's 13-3 eight-inning victory over UW-Eau Claire, Brinkman pitched seven innings to earn the win and raise his season record to 5-2. He scattered eight hits while allowing one run with three strikeouts.

In the Titans' 6-4 triumph over UW-Platteville, Brinkman pitched four scoreless innings to earn his second save of the season. He allowed just three hits while striking out a pair of batters.

Surane compiled a .500 (9-18) batting average with one home run, four doubles, eight runs scored, three runs batted in and four stolen bases as UW-Oshkosh swept doubleheaders from both UW-Eau Claire and UW-Platteville.

Surane, who had three hits in three of UW-Oshkosh's four games, finished the week with percentages of 1.000 for slugging and .550 for on-base. Surane handled all six of his fielding opportunities without an error.

Surane totaled six hits and six runs scored during UW-Oshkosh's two home wins over UW-Eau Claire on April 19. He went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one triple, three runs scored and one run batted in during a 13-3 eight-inning victory in the opener and 3-for-4 with three runs scored and four stolen bases during a 10-6 triumph in the nightcap.

Surane also went 3-for-5 with two doubles, one home run, two runs batted in and two runs scored during UW-Oshkosh's 12-2 seven-inning victory over visiting UW-Platteville on April 24.
