Surane Named To National Baseball Team Of The Week

UW-Oshkosh sophomore second baseman Jake Surane was selected to the 15-member D3baseball.com Team of the Week for games played April 11-17.

Surane becomes the first Titan to collect the national recogniton since current UW-Oshkosh pitcher Harry Orth during the 2021 season (April 26-May 2).

Surane hit .733 (11-15) with two home runs, three doubles, seven runs batted in, 12 runs scored and seven stolen bases as UW-Oshkosh swept a four-game series with visiting Finlandia University (Mich.) on April 15-16.

Surane had multiple hits in each contest while posting percentages of 1.333 for slugging and .789 for on-base. He handled all six of his fielding opportunities without an error.

In UW-Oshkosh's 15-2 seven-inning victory over Finlandia University on April 15, Surane went 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run (inside-the-park), one double, four runs batted in and three runs scored. He also went 3-for-3 with a double, four runs scored and three stolen bases during the Titans' 16-5 seven-inning triumph over the Lions on April 15.

During UW-Oshkosh's 21-4 seven-inning victory over Finlandia University on April 16, Surane went 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored, two runs batted in and two stolen bases. He also went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, one run batted in and two stolen bases during the Titans' 11-1 eight-inning win over the Lions on April 16.

Other UW-Oshkosh players honored since D3baseball.com debuted its Team of the Week selections in 2012 were outfielder Johnny Eagan in 2016 (April 4-10), third baseman Tyler Kozlowski and pitcher Colan Treml in 2017 (April 17-23), designated hitter Taylor Grimm in 2018 (March 5-11) and pitcher Chris Atwood in 2019 (March 25-31).

UW-Oshkosh (16-10, 11-5 WIAC) plays a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at UW-Platteville (10-11, 8-6) on Saturday (April 23).
