Titans Silenced By Big Blue

Caleb Buehrle pitched a four-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts to lead Millikin University (Ill.) to a 3-0 home win over the UW-Oshkosh baseball team Friday (March 4) in Decatur, Ill.

Buehrle (3-1) limited the Titans to four singles and a walk in nine innings pitched to earn the victory.

Garrett Fritz provided Beuhrle all the run support he needed with an opposite-field solo home run in the bottom of the second inning. Tanner Coleman later delivered a two-run double during the sixth inning to provide the game's final score.

Millikin University (9-2) extended its winning streak to nine games while UW-Oshkosh fell to 1-3 on the year.

Jake Surane went 2-for-4 to lead the Titans. Matt Scherrman and Zach Taylor also had hits for UW-Oshkosh.

UW-Oshkosh starting pitcher Harry Orth (0-1) was charged with the loss, yielding three runs on three hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings.

Logan King, LJ Waco and Trey Tennessen each recorded scoreless relief outings for the Titans.

UW-Oshkosh had won all six of its previous meetings with Millikin University, including a doubleheader sweep in the most recent prior matchup on March 20, 2007.

The Titans remain in Decatur to face Coe College (Iowa) on Saturday (March 5).
