Treml Named ABCA All-America

Treml Named ABCA All-America

UW-Oshkosh junior pitcher Colan Treml was selected to the NCAA Division III All-America Third Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

Treml, who compiled a 10-0 record this season, becomes the first Titan to earn ABCA All-America honors since Bobby Kachel and Tyler Kamps in 2013. Treml's 10 victories, which rank 10th in the country, were the most by a Titan since Jeremy Rubens won 10 in 2008.

Treml also received ABCA All-Midwest Region and All-WIAC first team recognition this season after leading UW-Oshkosh with a 2.15 earned run average, 12 pitching starts, 88 innings pitched, 74 strikeouts and five complete games. He allowed two or fewer runs in nine of his starts this season while his complete game total led the conference.

Treml, who won the first five starts this year, pitched a six-hit shutout with a career-high 12 strikeouts against Illinois Institute of Technology on May 11. Over his final two starts of the year, Treml tossed a pair of complete games while giving up just 15 hits and striking out 16 across 18 innings. Treml's final start of the season led the Titans past North Central College (Ill.) during the second round of the NCAA Division III Duluth (Minn.) Regional. He notched 42 strikeouts and issued a mere four walks across his last 44 innings of the year.

Treml's other top outings of this season includes seven scoreless innings with six strikeouts against UW-Platteville on April 21 and one run allowed in complete-game wins against both UW-Whitewater on April 25 and UW-Stout on April 29.

Treml, the 47th Titan to garner ABCA All-America accolades, owns a 19-8 record and a 2.85 earned run average through his first three seasons at UW-Oshkosh. He has recorded 177 strikeouts against just 36 walks in 218 innings pitched in 34 appearances, including 29 as a starter. Treml's four career shutouts are tied for second in UW-Oshkosh history.

Treml was among three WIAC players to receive ABCA All-America recognition this season, joining first team picks Cal Aldridge and Daytona Bryden from UW-Whitewater.

UW-Oshkosh (34-10) concluded its most successful season in more than a decade by reaching the championship round of the Duluth Regional. The Titans, who received an at-large berth to their first NCAA appearance since 2008, tied the program record with 111 doubles, achieved their most wins since 2007 and suffered their fewest losses since 2004.
