Four Titans Land All-WIAC First Team Honors
UW-Oshkosh's Johnny Eagan, Tyler Kozlowski, Jack Paulson and Colan Treml were each named to the first team as the Titans had eight overall selections on the All-WIAC Baseball Team.
Eagan, a senior outfielder, was tabbed to the all-conference first team for the third consecutive season while senior third baseman Kozlowski, junior shortstop Paulson and sophomore pitcher Treml were all selected to the league's top team for the first time.
Rounding out the Titans All-WIAC picks were honorable mention selections in junior first baseman Andy Brahier, sophomore outfielder Alex Koch, and junior pitchers Nick McLees and Jesse Sustachek.
Eagan led UW-Oshkosh with a .377 batting average, 42 runs scored, 60 hits, four home runs, 88 total bases and a .553 slugging percentage. Eagan ranked second in the conference in hits; third in runs scored, total bases, runs batted in (32), walks (24), triples (3) and on-base percentage (.456); fourth in slugging percentage; and sixth in doubles (10).
Eagan, who reached base in 37 consecutive games this year, had a 21-game hitting streak from April 8 to May 5. He went 5-for-5 with a conference record-tying three doubles, one home run, four runs scored and three runs batted in during an 8-0 win over UW-Platteville on April 22.
Eagan concluded his three-year Titan baseball career with a .375 batting average, 185 hits, 128 runs scored, 39 doubles, seven home runs, 91 runs batted in, 45 stolen bases and a .452 on-base percentage in 125 games.
Kozlowski, an honorable mention All-WIAC choice his first three years, hit .299 this season with a team-leading 12 doubles and 34 runs batted in, ranking third in the conference in both categories. He also listed fourth in the league with 23 walks and 10th with a .405 on-base percentage.
Kozlowski registered 12 multiple-hit games this year and compiled an 11-game hitting streak from April 13-28. In a doubleheader sweep over UW-Platteville on April 23, Kozlowski went 6-for-9 at the plate with two doubles, one triple and nine runs batted in.
Kozlowski's career totals included a .305 batting average, 190 hits, 46 doubles, four home runs, 119 RBIs and 28 stolen bases.
Paulson ended the season with a .311 batting average and a WIAC-leading 33 walks. He recorded 46 hits, 31 runs scored, 10 doubles, three triples, one home run, 20 runs batted in and a team-best 14 stolen bases and a .458 on-base percentage. Paulson ranks second in the league in on-base percentage, third in triples, fourth in stolen bases, sixth in doubles and ninth in runs scored.
Paulson had a 10-game hitting streak from March 4-24. During a pair of wins against UW-Platteville on April 23, Paulson went 5-for-6 with four walks, five runs scored and three runs batted in.
In his first three years, Paulson is hitting .301 with 133 hits, 98 runs scored, 19 doubles, 67 runs batted in and 47 stolen bases in 120 games.
Treml produced a 5-3 record with a team-best 3.00 earned run average, 53 strikeouts and 72 innings pitched. He tossed four complete games, including a WIAC-leading three shutouts this year. He ranks second in the conference in complete games, third in innings pitched, fourth in strikeouts, and fifth in wins and earned run average.
Treml pitched a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts against UW-Platteville and six-hitters against both Bowdoin College (Maine) on March 22 and UW-La Crosse on April 13.
In his first two collegiate seasons, Treml sports a 9-8 record with 103 strikeouts in 130 innings pitched across 22 appearances, including 17 as a starter.
Brahier had a .317 batting average this season while Koch hit .342. Brahier, who ranks 10th in the league in slugging percentage (.460), launched a team-best four home runs and drove in 30 runs. Koch hit a pair of homers and scored 13 runs.
Brahier's career statistics include a .337 batting average, 160 hits, 73 runs scored, 29 doubles, seven home runs and 99 RBIs in 123 games.
Koch's two-year career totals feature a .323 batting average, 40 hits, 23 runs scored, three homers and 14 RBIs in 42 games.
McLees had a 2-5 mark on the mound this year with a 4.38 earned run average and 27 strikeouts in 39 innings pitched. In his two years at UW-Oshkosh, McLees has a 2-5 record with a 4.83 earned run average and 30 strikeouts in 41 innings pitched spanning 12 appearances, including four as a starter.
Sustachek led the Titan pitching staff in wins this year, going 6-3 on the mound with a 3.82 earned run average, 66 innings pitched, 34 strikeouts and three complete games in 10 starts. He lists third in the league in complete games, fourth in wins and innings pitched, sixth in opponent batting average (.250) and 10th in earned run average.
Sustachek's three-year UW-Oshkosh totals include a 13-7 record, a 4.19 earned run average, 150.1 innings pitched and 89 strikeouts in 33 appearances, including 21 as a starter.
The 22-member All-WIAC First Team also included UW-La Crosse's Caleb Boushley, Nate Heili, Carter Hoffman and Caleb Willems; UW-Stevens Point's Cole Erickson and Kyle Mrozinski; UW-Stout's Tyler Christensen and Joel Hollow; UW-Platteville's Colton Bormann; UW-Whitewater's Cal Aldridge, Steve Chamberlain, Blake Fleischman, Austin Jones, Brett Krause, Jordan Kuczynski, Mike Nompleggi, Heath Renz and Westin Wuethrich.
UW-Whitewater's Renz was selected the WIAC Pitcher of the Year and Fleischman the Position Player of the Year. John Vodenlich from UW-Whitewater earned the league's Coach of the Year award.
UW-Whitewater, which claimed both the WIAC regular season and tournament titles, was followed in the league standings by UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh and UW-Stevens Point in a tie for second; UW-Stout in fifth; and UW-Platteville in sixth.
