Wengrzyn Named Marketing & Development Specialist

UW-Oshkosh announced the hiring of Cameron Wengrzyn as Athletics Marketing & Development Specialist on Monday (July 29).

Wengrzyn will direct the community relations, marketing, social media and promotional campaigns for UW-Oshkosh’s Athletics Department.

"I’m thrilled to become a member of the UW-Oshkosh community,” Wengrzyn said. “I look forward to using my experience and creativity to further the success of an already strong athletics program."

For the past five years, Wengrzyn worked in professional baseball. He spent the last six months as the Director of Fan Experience for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Pa.), the AAA affiliate of the New York Yankees. Wengrzyn managed video production and on-field entertainment while also operating the team’s website and social media.

Wengrzyn was the production manager and a marketing assistant for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers from 2009-12. He operated the videoboard for broadcasts, highlights and commercials. The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers received the 2012 Larry MacPhail Award, which recognizes the top promotional team in minor league baseball.

“Cameron is a great addition to our staff,” said UW-Oshkosh Director of Athletics Darryl Sims. “His valuable marketing experience will help us in the community and make UW-Oshkosh sporting events a fun destination.”

In 2009, Wengrzyn was a production assistant for the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Ky.), the A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. He assisted in the marketing campaign and launching of the new minor league team, along with graphics and video editing. Previously, Wengrzyn served as an entertainment and media productions intern for the Cincinnati Reds.

Wengrzyn earned his bachelor’s degree in broadcasting from Western Kentucky University in 2008. As a student, he worked as a marketing assistant in the school’s athletics department.

UW-Oshkosh also announced new contracts for Sarah Benben as cheer and stunt coach, Ben Dorsey as head women's track & field coach, Liza Ruetten as head women’s golf coach and Craig Stenbroten as assistant football coach.
