UW-Oshkosh To Celebrate NCAA Division III Week
During the week of April 8-14, the UW-Oshkosh Athletics Department and the NCAA are celebrating Division III week.
This is the 40th anniversary of Division III athletics. During 1973, the NCAA organized itself into three divisions, thus forming Division III and creating the first championships for 233 universities and colleges. Since then, Division III became the largest division, greatly expanding opportunities for competition. It currently features 447 member schools, 43 conferences and more than 175,000 student-athletes.
The Division III philosophy emphasizes three main components:
discover, develop and dedicate. Each Division III student-athlete
arrives at a college or university, discovers their passion and
develops that into something they dedicate their lives to.
Next week the Athletics Department will reveal seven
student-athletes who possess these character traits. We will share
an interview with each of these subjects. Please visit
