Hall Of Fame Inductee: Nadine (Pieske) Schuette

This is the 10th in a 14-part series that introduces the 14 members of the 2024 UW-Oshkosh Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Class. Their inductions will take place Friday, August 2 (3:30 p.m.) at the Culver Family Welcome Center (625 Pearl Avenue) on the UW-Oshkosh campus. UW-Oshkosh then celebrates 50 years of inductions into its Athletics Hall of Fame during a special event held Saturday, August 3 (3:30 p.m.) at the Oshkosh Convention Center (2 North Main Street). Hall of fame members in attendance will be recognized and receive a variety of commemorative items. The keynote speaker is Iowa State University Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard, a 1999 UW-Oshkosh Hall of Fame inductee. Tickets ($45 each, aged five and older) for this event are open to the public and will be on sale through July 1. Nadine (Pieske) Schuette established numerous conference, school and facility records along her way to running to one national title and 10 All-America awards as a distinguished member of the UW-Oshkosh women's track & field program from 2004-07.

A 10-time conference champion as well, Schuette helped UW-Oshkosh win three straight national indoor championships from 2004-06 and national outdoor titles in 2004, 2006 and 2007. The Titans were also the conference indoor champion in 2006 and league outdoor champion in both 2004 and 2006.

Schuette sprinted onto the UW-Oshkosh scene in 2004 and teamed with Jackie Munoz, Emily Steinhafel and 2018 UW-Oshkosh Hall of Fame inductee Elizabeth Woodworth on March 5 to win the distance medley relay at the WIAC Indoor Championship with a meet-record time of 11:51.50 that still stands today. She also placed eighth at the meet in the 400-meter run.

Later that spring, Schuette concluded her inaugural season as a Titan with a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter run at the WIAC Outdoor Championship.

Schuette bounced back from a serious hip injury suffered near the end of the 2004 season to have another successful campaign for the Titans in 2005. She won the distance medley relay and finished eighth in the 400-meter run at the WIAC Indoor Championship while winning the 200-meter dash and placing fourth in the 400-meter run at the WIAC Outdoor Championship.

In 2006, Schuette earned five All-America awards and four conference victories as UW-Oshkosh won indoor and outdoor titles at both the WIAC and Division III championships.

Schuette won the 200-meter dash at the 2006 WIAC Indoor Championship while finishing second in the 400-meter run. The 2003 Whitnall High School graduate then placed fourth in the 400-meter run and fifth in the 1,600-meter relay at the Division III Championship.

Schuette's 2006 outdoor season included victories in the 200-meter dash, 400-meter run and 1,600-meter relay at the WIAC Championship. She later finished second in the 400-meter run, eighth in the 200-meter dash and seventh in the 1,600-meter relay at the Division III Championship.

Schuette was a dominant performer on the track in 2007. She won one national title and three conference championships while achieving five All-America citations and setting five records.

Schuette's 2007 indoor accomplishments involved a victory in the 200-meter dash and a second-place finish in the 400-meter run at the WIAC Championship. She also finished fourth in both the 400-meter run and 1,600-meter relay at the Division III Championship. Schuette's preliminary time of 25.05 seconds in the 200-meter dash on February 23 at the WIAC Championship established a meet record.

Schuette concluded her UW-Oshkosh career with a tremendous 2007 outdoor season. She finished first in both the 200-meter dash and 1,600-meter relay and second in the 400-meter run at the WIAC Championship. She then won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.72 seconds and placed third in both the 400-meter run and 1,600-meter relay to help the Titans capture the team title at the Division III Championship held at the Oshkosh Sports Complex.

Schuette, the lone national outdoor 200-meter dash champion in UW-Oshkosh history, was involved in four record-breaking performances while running on her home track for the national meet. Individually, Schuette established both a school and current facility record with her preliminary time of 24.07 seconds in the 200-meter dash on May 24. Two days later, Schuette set current school and facility records by teaming with Amanda Donath, Amy Mleziva and Nicole Pelischek for a time of 3:46.96 in the final of the 1,600-meter relay.

Schuette, who was selected to the WIAC Women's Track & Field All-Centennial Team in 2012, graduated from UW-Oshkosh in 2007. She has been employed in the medical profession for nearly two decades, including the last six years as a 3D imaging technologist at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.

Schuette lives in Mequon with husband Tyler and sons Jordan, Oliver and Skyler.

The UW-Oshkosh Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 1974 to enhance school tradition and give lasting recognition to those student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and friends of the university who distinguished themself at an exemplary level.

Each hall of fame member represents greatness, with their accomplishments built on campus, after graduation or through meritorious efforts that benefit the UW-Oshkosh athletics program.

The first UW-Oshkosh Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony was held April 28, 1974, at The Pioneer Inn & Marina. The five inductees were Edward Boguski, Edward Hall, Burton Karges, Robert Kolf and Robert Williams.

Four venues have hosted the UW-Oshkosh Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony – The Pioneer Inn & Marina (1974-2001), Hilton Garden Inn Oshkosh (2002), UW-Oshkosh's Reeve Memorial Union (2003-13) and UW-Oshkosh's Culver Family Welcome Center (2014-19, 2021-Present).
