Hall Of Fame Inductee: Leah (Rosenbaum) Cisler

This is the third in a 14-part series that introduces the 14 members of the 2024 UW-Oshkosh Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Class. Their inductions will take place Friday, August 2 (3:30 p.m.) at the Culver Family Welcome Center (625 Pearl Avenue) on the UW-Oshkosh campus. UW-Oshkosh then celebrates 50 years of inductions into its Athletics Hall of Fame during a special event held Saturday, August 3 (3:30 p.m.) at the Oshkosh Convention Center (2 North Main Street). Hall of fame members in attendance will be recognized and receive a variety of commemorative items. The keynote speaker is Iowa State University Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard, a 1999 UW-Oshkosh Hall of Fame inductee. Tickets ($45 each, aged five and older) for this event are open to the public and will be on sale through July 1. One of only five three-time All-Americans in the history of the UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball program, Leah (Rosenbaum) Cisler had an extremely decorated career while helping the Titans to three NCAA Division III postseason appearances and a pair of WIAC championships from 2004-07.

UW-Oshkosh compiled a 122-28 record during Cisler's four years as a Titan, including season results of 36-5 in 2005 and 32-6 in both 2006 and 2007. UW-Oshkosh advanced to the second round of the Division III Championship in 2005 and 2007 while sharing the WIAC title with UW-Whitewater in 2005 and UW-Eau Claire in 2006.

Cisler, a middle blocker, started 126 of the 142 matches that she played in. Her career statistics feature a .385 hitting percentage with 1,726 kills, 518 blocks, 216 digs and 35 service aces. The 2004 Wrightstown High School graduate currently ranks third in the WIAC in career hitting percentage and sixth in career kills.

Cisler is the owner of three career double-doubles, including a 23-kill, 10-block performance in UW-Oshkosh's 3-2 victory over UW-Eau Claire on October 14, 2005, and a 19-kill, 11-block effort during the Titans' 3-1 triumph over Mount St. Joseph University (Ohio) on October 29, 2006.

Cisler additionally totaled 15-plus kills in a match 45 times, including a career-best 24 during UW-Oshkosh's 3-2 loss to UW-La Crosse on October 29, 2005.

Cisler appeared in all 33 matches for the Titans in 2004, including 32 as a starter. She received All-WIAC honorable mention recognition after hitting .341 with 381 kills, 104 blocks and 20 digs.

The following year, Cisler played in all 41 matches for UW-Oshkosh, including 34 as a starter. She collected All-WIAC First Team, Division III All-Midwest Region First Team and Division III All-America Third team honors after hitting a league-best .391 with 558 kills, 164 blocks and 79 digs.

In 2006, Cisler earned All-WIAC First Team, Division III All-Midwest Region First Team and Division III All-America First Team awards after hitting a league-best .395 with 489 kills, 140 blocks and 56 digs. She participated in all 38 contests for the Titans, including 35 as a starter.

Cisler's 2007 season was another highly successful one as she repeated as an All-WIAC First Team, Division III All-Midwest Region First Team and Division III All-America First Team award winner. Cisler started 25 of the 30 matches that she played in and hit a conference-best .405 with 361 kills, 110 blocks and 61 digs.

Cisler, a five-time WIAC Athlete of the Week selection, was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Division III Player of the Week for her performance during the period of October 1-7, 2007. She acquired the national award after hitting .437 with 61 kills as UW-Oshkosh won all four of its matches during the week, including a 3-0 victory over fourth-ranked Emory University (Ga.).

Cisler, who was selected to the WIAC Women's Volleyball All-Centennial Team in 2012, received her bachelor's degree and teaching license from UW-Oshkosh in 2009 and 2021, respectively. While an undergraduate she was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll three times.

Cisler has taught and coached in the Chilton Public School System since 2014. She is currently a teacher in family and consumer sciences at Chilton High School.

Cisler previously was a teacher in the Kaukauna Catholic School System for five years and the head girls' varsity volleyball coach at Hortonville High School from 2008-09, Wrightstown High School from 2011-13 and Chilton High School from 2014-22.

Cisler lives in Greenleaf with husband Wayne, son Lincoln and daughter Liberty.

The UW-Oshkosh Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 1974 to enhance school tradition and give lasting recognition to those student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and friends of the university who distinguished themself at an exemplary level.

Each hall of fame member represents greatness, with their accomplishments built on campus, after graduation or through meritorious efforts that benefit the UW-Oshkosh athletics program.

The first UW-Oshkosh Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony was held April 28, 1974, at The Pioneer Inn & Marina. The five inductees were Edward Boguski, Edward Hall, Burton Karges, Robert Kolf and Robert Williams.

Four venues have hosted the UW-Oshkosh Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony – The Pioneer Inn & Marina (1974-2001), Hilton Garden Inn Oshkosh (2002), UW-Oshkosh's Reeve Memorial Union (2003-13) and UW-Oshkosh's Culver Family Welcome Center (2014-19, 2021-Present).
