Titans Finish 19th At Roy Griak Invitational

The UW-Oshkosh women's cross country team finished 19th out of 32 programs in the Maroon Division of University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational held Saturday (Sept. 28) in Falcon Heights, Minn.

UW-Oshkosh, which finished fourth during its last appearance at the meet in 2017, scored 611 points in this year's competition.

NCAA Division II programs swept the top five places, including Augustana University (S.D.) which won the meet with 36 points. The Vikings were followed by second-place University of Mary (N.D.) with 89 points, third-place University of Colorado-Colorado Springs with 105, fourth-place Western Washington University with 113 and fifth-place Michigan Tech with 162.

Amanda Van Den Plas was UW-Oshkosh's top runner in the 6,000-meter race with her 94th-place time of 24:33.

Joining Amanda Van Den Plas in helping form the Titans' team score were Alexandria Demco, Meygan Benzing, Breanna Van Den Plas and Libby Geisness. Demco finished 124th with her time of 25:01, Benzing 163rd in 25:30, Breanna Van Den Plas 184th in 25:50 and Geisness 204th in 26:09.

UW-Oshkosh also had Tayah Cunningham finish 225th among the meet's 375 runners with her time of 26:29 and Melissa Srnka 236th in 26:40.

University of Mary's Ida Narbuvoll won the individual title with her time of 21:25. Claire Boersma of Augustana University finished second in 22:29 while Kayla Wooten of the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs placed third in 22:35.

Rounding out the meet's top five runners were Rebekkah Pyle of Lakehead University (Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada) and Cait Savey of Augustana University. Pyle finished fourth with a time of 22:38 while Savey placed fifth in 22:42.

UW-Oshkosh competes next Friday (Oct. 4) at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational.
