Noone Finishes 52nd At NCAA Championship

UW-Oshkosh's Evlyn Noone earned 52nd place among 280 runners at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship held Saturday (Nov. 17) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.

Noone, a graduate student competing in her first collegiate season, finished the 6,000-meter race on her home course in a time of 22:09.8. She was the Titans' only representative in the national meet, which was hosted by UW-Oshkosh for the fourth time.

Noone received one of 56 at-large berths into the Division III Championship by finishing eighth at the Midwest Regional held Nov. 10 in Colfax. Earlier this season Noone placed second at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Fall Classic held Sept. 21, sixth at the WIAC Championship held Oct. 27, seventh at the UW-Parkside Vic Godfrey Open held Sept. 8 and eighth at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational held Sept. 28.

Paige Lawler of Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) won the individual title by overtaking the lead from U.S. Coast Guard Academy's (Conn.) Kaitlyn Mooney with less than 1,500 meters to go and holding on with her time of 20:55.0. Lawler's individual championship is the first in Washington University history. 

Claire Lamb from Otterbein University (Ohio) finished second with a time of 20:58.7.

Rounding out the top five individual finishers were Annie Rodenfels from Centre College (Ky.) in third place with a time of 20:58.9, Mooney in fourth at 21:04.2 and Brandeis University's Emily Bryson in fifth at 21:08.3.

Washington University accumulated 98 points to nip two-time defending champion Johns Hopkins University's (Md.) total of 99. The Bears claimed their second team championship and first since winning the 2011 title in Winneconne.

Joining Washington University and Johns Hopkins University on the team podium were third-place Massachusetts Institute of Technology with 247 points and fourth-place University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with 265.

The top 40 individual finishers earned All-America accolades.

UW-Oshkosh also hosted the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in 1999, 2011 and 2015.
