Jenkins Guides Titans At Brooks Invitational

Sonny Jenkins paced UW-Oshkosh as the Titans came in 17th place at the UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational on Oct. 19 at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.

St. Scholastica's Chelsea Johnson cruised to the individual title, taking first out of 509 runners with a time of 21:04, nearly 13 seconds ahead of second place.

Lucy Cheadle of Washington University (Mo.) took second at 21:17. Willamette's (Ore.) Michaela Freeby earned third, clocking in at 21:27, followed by Catherine Young of the University of Chicago (21:31) and Cassandra Vince of Calvin College (21:39).

Wheaton's (Ill.) Emma Gilbertson took sixth (21:43), one spot ahead of UW-Oshkosh alum and 2012 national champion Christy Cazzola, who ran unattached and finished with a time of 21:43.

Calvin's (Mich.) Nicole Micherhuizen took eighth place (21:45), while Trinity's (Texas) Maddie Murphy placed ninth (21:47) and Sheri McCormack of Hope College rounded out the top 10 at 21:58.

Calvin took the team title with a score of 71 and defended its title from a year ago. With 120 points, University of Chicago took second, followed by Washington University with 124, Trinity with 126 and Hope with 180.

Jenkins led UW-Oshkosh, finishing 84th in 23:19. Kylee Verhasselt followed in 23:24 to come in 92nd.

Erica Munyan finished 114th (23:36), as Kristen Linzmeier took 118th (23:37), Danica Harrison 136th (23:47), Leah Rendflesh 161st (23:59) and Mariah McMullen 200th (24:23) to round out the Titans in the top 200.

Other Titans finishing in the top 300 were Rhea Fiorita (24:35) and Kate Brooks (25:24).

Also finishing for UW-Oshkosh was Alexa Nutter (25:33), Gabrhael Walman (25:39), Kendal Wormuth (25:50), Morgan Engelhart (26:07), Betsy Gray (26:13), Andrea Brown (26:56) and Jennifer Brenner (31:05).

The Titans' next meet will be the UW-Oshkosh Open on Oct. 25 at Lake Breeze.
