Jaeke Chosen To All-Region Volleyball Team
UW-Oshkosh senior Samantha Jaeke was among 20 players selected to the NCAA Division III All-Midwest Region Team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Jaeke, a right-side hitter, was named to the six-member Honorable Mention Team. Jaeke received regional recognition for the first time since being tabbed AVCA's 2016 Midwest Region Freshman of the Year.
Joining Jaeke on the Honorable Mention Team were UW-Stevens Point's Ellie Adams, UW-Eau Claire's Kendra Baierl, St. Norbert College's Grace Baumann, Lakeland University's Shannon Bishop and University of Chicago's (Ill.) Ellie Alden.
Jaeke led UW-Oshkosh this season with 390.5 points, 341 kills, 79 blocks and a .281 hitting percentage. She currently ranks fourth in the WIAC in points, kills and hitting percentage while listing eighth in blocks.
Jaeke paced the Titans in kills 21 times as UW-Oshkosh finished 2019 with a 21-10 record, marking the program's 19th season in the past 21 years with at least 20 wins. Jaeke produced 22.5 points and 19 kills against University of Dubuque (Iowa) on Sept. 27 before collecting 21 points on a career-best 20 kills, including the 1,000th of her career, against UW-Stout on Oct. 18. Jaeke recorded double-digit kills on 18 occasions during her senior campaign and 46 times in her career.
Jaeke, the fifth four-time All-WIAC selection in program history, was selected to the league's First Team this season. She also received All-WIAC First Team recognition in both 2016 and 2017 before earning Honorable Mention accolades in 2018. Jaeke concluded her four seasons at UW-Oshkosh with 1,329 points, 1,076 kills, 685 assists, 560 digs, 320 blocks and a .233 hitting percentage in 120 matches and 431 sets played.
The 14-member AVCA All-Midwest Region First Team was comprised of Emma Griffith, Madison Pearson and Anne Marie Stifter from University of Chicago; Megan Behrendt, Haley Horner and Ellie LeCount from Carthage College; Sydnei Avery and Julia Wood from Aurora University (Ill.); Sydney Meeker from Cornell College; Lexie Van Hiel from St. Norbert College; Arianna Barrett from UW-Eau Claire; April Gehl from UW-Stevens Point; Steph Cannon from UW-Stout; Ashton Doll from UW-Whitewater.
UW-Stevens Point's Gehl, the 2019 WIAC Player of the Year, garnered AVCA Midwest Region Player of the Year honors. Aurora University's Avery received the AVCA Freshman of the Year award while University of Chicago's Sharon Dingman was named Midwest Region Coach of the Year.
