Titans Split Four Matches In Illinois

UW-Oshkosh alternated results as it posted a 2-2 women's volleyball record at the Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament held Friday and Saturday (Oct. 11-12) in Naperville, Ill.

The Titans began tournament with a 3-2 loss to Saint Mary's University (Minn.) and a 3-1 victory over North Park University (Ill.). UW-Oshkosh then split a pair of 3-0 decisions as it lost to Wheaton College (Ill.) before defeating host North Central College (Ill.).

UW-Oshkosh was hampered by 13 service and nine receiving errors during its 20-25, 25-23, 29-27, 23-25 and 15-9 loss to Saint Mary's University. The Cardinals scored nine of the last 12 points in the fifth set to take the match.

Four Titans had double-digit kills, led by Jordyn Bratel with 15 and Nerissa Vogt with 13. Alison Tomczyk had 31 assists to lead UW-Oshkosh, while Alexis Thiel followed with 29. Mandy Trautmann had a team-high 41 digs.

The 16 kills from both Kenzie Lind and Alex Peterson led Saint Mary's University. Lexi Assimos added 51 assists and Lex Krogstad28 digs.

UW-Oshkosh out hit Saint Mary's University (18-5), .205 to .161.

The Titans bounced back from their tough loss to mark a 24-26, 25-20, 25-12 and 25-13 victory over North Park University.

UW-Oshkosh hit .248 for the match, including .440 in the third set and .467 in the fourth. The Vikings (7-13) hit .072, with a high of .159 in the first set.

Katelyn Malcheski had 14 kills for the Titans, while Tomczyk led the way with 20 assists. Trautmann had a team-high 15 digs.

North Park University received 17 kills and 10 digs from Shelby Switzer, 41 assists from Abigail McKowen and 13 digs from Christine Scott.

Wheaton College (19-6) then swept UW-Oshkosh by scores 25-22, 25-18 and 25-23. The Thunder hit .258 for the match, including a mark of .317 in the second set. It was the second 3-0 win for Wheaton College over UW-Oshkosh this season.

UW-Oshkosh hit .202 and was paced by the 10 kills from Malcheski. The Titans also obtained 18 assists from Tomczyk and 22 digs from Trautmann.

Maddie McGinnis had 17 kills and 12 digs for Wheaton College, while Ashley Torok contributed 28 assists and Kelli Manning 23 digs.

UW-Oshkosh won the final match of the tournament with a 25-21, 25-20 and 25-18 sweep of North Central College. The Titans also swept the Cardinals on Sept. 13.

Bratel and Malcheski had 11 kills for the Titans, while Tomczyk and Thiel each had 17 assists. Trautmann led UW-Oshkosh with 14 digs.

Bridget White led North Central College with 11 kills. The Cardinals (10-16) also received 28 assists from Laura Kluk and 14 digs from Jessie Fiala.

The Titans out hit North Central College, .236 to .088.

Trautmann was the lone UW-Oshkosh player named to the six-member all-tournament team.
