Titans Win Five-Set Match From Falcons

UW-Oshkosh won for the 11th time in 12 matches with a 3-2 victory over the UW-River Falls women's volleyball team on Friday (Oct. 4) in River Falls.

The Titans lost 29-27 in the first set before taking the next two by scores of 25-15 and 25-21. After a 25-11 loss in the fourth set, UW-Oshkosh (12-5/3-1 WIAC) bounced back to take the fifth, 15-11.

UW-Oshkosh hit .160 for the match, including .333 in the fifth and deciding set. UW-River Falls (11-6/2-2 WIAC) hit .191, highlighted by a mark of .450 in the fourth set.

Katelyn Malcheski had a season-high 18 kills for the Titans, while Jordyn Bratel added 11 and Jessica Fischer seven. Fischer also contributed 14 digs.

Alison Tomczyk led UW-Oshkosh with 22 assists and Mandy Trautmann in digs with 31. Alexis Thiel helped the Titans' winning effort by totaling 14 assists and 11 digs.

Jean Theis paced UW-River Falls with 10 kills and five blocks. Lisa Keppers had nine kills and Hali Tasler and Nicole Mehr eight each.

The Falcons also acquired 25 digs and seven kills from Brianna Muetzel, 26 assists from Alyssa Anderson and 21 assists and seven digs from Raven Kline.

UW-Oshkosh takes to the court against UW-Stout on Saturday (Oct. 5) in Menomonie.
