Wrensch Wins Two Events At WIAC Outdoor Championship

Lauren Wrensch won two events and participated on a fourth-place relay team as UW-Oshkosh finished fifth at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship (presented by Culver's) held Friday and Saturday (May 3-4) in Platteville.

Wrensch recorded winning performances of 56.19 seconds in the 400-meter run and 19-4 1/4 in the long jump to defeat 20 other competitors in both events. Her leap in the long jump ranks second in the NCAA Division III this season while her time in the 400-meter run lists ninth.

Wrensch also ran with Alexandra Demco, Lindsay Denu and Taylor Pralle on UW-Oshkosh's fourth-place 1,600-meter relay team that posted a time of 3:58.30.

This past February, Wrensch won both the long jump and 400-meter run at the WIAC Indoor Track & Field Championship (presented by Culver's) held in Whitewater.

UW-Oshkosh had one second-place listing at this year's conference outdoor championship as Isabella Samuels earned the runner-up finish in the shot put for the second straight season with her measurement of 45-9. UW-Eau Claire's Erica Oawster won this year's event of 26 participants with a throw of 46-0.

The Titans owned five third-place results in Platteville, including a pair by Hannah Lohrenz. Lohrenz ran to times of 2:16.23 at 800 meters and 4:40.11 at 1,500.

Other third-place finishes went to UW-Oshkosh's Sadie Huth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.69 seconds, Alexandria Steger in javelin with a measurement of 120-7 and Mikaela Zolecki in the hammer throw with a distance of 165-3. Huth's time in the 100-meter hurdles ranks 25th nationally.

Zolecki also contributed a sixth-place measurement of 128-7 in the discus.

UW-Oshkosh also had Amanda Van Den Plas finish seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:36.10 and Ashton Keene eighth in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 38:36.55.

The 11-time champion Titans finished fifth in the team standings with 69 points.

UW-La Crosse scored 225.5 points to win the team title for the eighth straight year and 34th time overall. UW-Eau Claire finished second to the Eagles with 192 points while UW-Stevens Point placed third with 125 and UW-Stout fourth with 83.

UW-Platteville finished six among the eight competing teams with 64 points, UW-Whitewater seventh with 44.5 and UW-River Falls eighth with 12.

UW-Stevens Point's Sylviann Momont and UW-La Crosse's Savannah Rygiewicz were named the Field Performer of the Meet and Track Performer of the Meet, respectively. UW-La Crosse received the Coaching Staff of the Year award.
