Jahn Leads Titans' USTFCCCA All-Academic Selections

Three UW-Oshkosh student-athletes, including three-time honoree Stephanie Jahn, were repeat selections on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) 2015 All-Academic Women's Track & Field Team.

The USTFCCCA recognized 420 NCAA Division III student-athletes for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments, with Cassandra Hemmen and Caitlyn McCormick being the other two UW-Oshkosh selections.

Indoor and outdoor national champion UW-La Crosse earned a nation-best 15 All-Academic awards while UW-Stout followed with 12 and UW-Eau Claire and Washington University (Mo.) 11 each. The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference topped the list of conferences with 55 awards earned by its member institutions.

Jahn, a senior business administration major with a 3.67 GPA, also received All-Academic honors in 2013 and 2014. She was a member of UW-Oshkosh's 1,600-meter relay team that finished third at the 2015 NCAA Division III Indoor Championship. Last May she was named the winner of the UW-Oshkosh John Taylor Senior Scholar-Athlete Award.

Hemmen, a senior environmental studies major with a 3.74 GPA, also received All-Academic recognition in 2012. Hemmen ran on UW-Oshkosh's 400-meter relay team in the preliminary round at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship.

McCormick, a junior nursing major with a 3.37 GPA, also received All-Academic honors in 2014. She ran on UW-Oshkosh's 1,600-meter relay at both the NCAA Division III indoor and outdoor championships.

Lucy Cheadle of Washington University and Alison Maxwell of Middlebury College (Vt.) shared the Track Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, while Bria Halama of UW-La Crosse earned the indoor/outdoor field honor.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA's All-Academic Track & Field Team, student-athletes must own a minimum GPA of 3.30 and have either competed in an NCAA indoor or outdoor championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 of an individual event or in the national top 25 of a relay event on the official NCAA Proof of Performance list.

In the team category, UW-Oshkosh was among 170 schools recognized for earning a GPA of 3.10 or higher. Head coach Ben Dorsey's Titans compiled a 3.11 GPA while placing second indoors and seventh outdoors at the NCAA Division III championships.

UW-La Crosse was named the USTFCCCA's Scholar Team of the Year after tabulating a GPA of 3.40. Saint Vincent College (Pa.) led all NCAA Division III schools with its GPA of 3.65.
