Titans Place Second In WIAC Quadrangular

In a four-team meet with some of the best of the WIAC women's track and field squads competing, UW-Oshkosh finished second with 157 points and had five first-place finishes on Saturday (Feb. 14) in Whitewater.

UW-La Crosse won the meet with 210.5 points. UW-Whitewater finished was third with 125 points and UW-Stevens Point finished fourth with 96.5.

Competing for the first time this season, the distance medley team of Isabella Tremonti, Caitlyn McCormick, Sonny Jenkins, and Kylee Verhasselt ran against the clock for a time of 12:26.36.

The four Titans taking home individual event wins included Cheyenne covering one mile in 5:18.36, Samantha Blue with a leap of 17-3 1/2 in the long jump, Jecel Klotz with a put of 49-7 3/4 in the shot put, and Melanie Brickner putting up a mark of 61-10 1/4 in the 20 pound weight throw.

UW-Oshkosh had four performances that finished in second place. Emily Reichenberger ran the 200-meter dash 25.84 seconds, Kasey Ederer reached 5-2 1/2 in the high jump, Karina Marchan's long jump hit 16-10 1/2.

The 1,600-meter relay team of Stephanie Jahn, Stephanie Knutson, McCormick, and Verhasselt compiled a time of 3:57.40 to also finish second.

UW-Oshkosh's third-place finishers were Reichenberger with a 60-meter dash time of 25.84 seconds, Margaret Geldernick ran the 60-meter hurdles in 9.02 seconds, Amanada Shober had a triple jump of 31-1 1/4, Brickner had a toss of 45-5 1/4 in the shot put, and Klotz had a toss of 56-7 1/2 in weight throw.

Two Titans finished fourth in the meet. Leah Rendflesh worked for 5:32.41 time in the mile run and Sherry Taylor ran the 60-meter hurdles in 9.05 seconds.

Blue competed two running events and finished fifth in both along with three other women earning fifth place marks. Blue sprinted the 60-meter dash in 7.94 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 26.40 seconds, Kristen Linzmeir ran 800 meters in 2:21.51, Erica Munyan paced the mile run for a time of 5:34.66, and Lizzy Abhold had a throw of 53-1 in the weight throw.

Finishing the mentions in sixth place were Danica Harrison with a mile run of 5:46.82 and Stefanie Weber reaching a height of 10-11 3/4 in the pole vault.

UW-Oshkosh will be involved in two meets next weekend on Feb. 21, the Titan Challenge in Kolf Sports Center and the Pointer Invitational in Stevens Point.
