Cazzola Wins WIAC's Weekly Track Award
Christy Cazzola recorded two of the nation's fastest times in winning the WIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week award for events held April 7-13.
Cazzola competed April 11-12 at the UW-Platteville Invitational and took first place in both the 800- and 5,000-meter runs.
In the 800-meter run, Cazzola defeated 44 other contestants with her time of 2:10.34. Her effort ranks second in the NCAA Division III this season.
Cazzola won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:48.60. Her performance, the third best in the NCAA Division III, defeated 26 competitors.
No team scores were kept at the meet.
Lexie Sondgeroth of UW-Whitewater was chosen as the conference's top field performer.
