Titans Win 11 Events En Route To Convincing Victory

UW-Oshkosh recorded 11 first- and 10 second-place finishes during its overwhelming domination of the Titan Women's Track & Field Open held Friday (Feb. 7) in Kolf Sports Center.

The Titans won the five-team meet with 279 points, while the University of St. Francis (Ill.) finished second with 136. Ripon College placed third with 22 points, Simpson College (Iowa) fourth with eight and Lakeland College fifth with six.

UW-Oshkosh's Leah Rendflesh took first place in the mile run with a time of 5:37.37. She also finished second in the 3,000-meter run with an effort of 11:08.37.

The Titans also had Jecel Klotz win the shot put and finish second in the 20-pound weight throw with distances of 46-2 and 45-2 1/2, respectively.

Amanda Shober owned a pair of second-place jumps for UW-Oshkosh, leaping to measurements of 16-9 3/4 in the long jump and 35-8 3/4 in the triple jump.

Other UW-Oshkosh winners on the track were Ashley Holicek in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.93, Samantha Blue in the 200-meter dash at 26.50, Elizabeth Pospyhalla in the 400-meter run at 58.84, Kylee Verhasselt in the 800-meter run at 2:15.40, Danica Harrison in the 3,000-meter run at 10:50.72 and Margaret Geldernick in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.27.

The Titans also won the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 4:04.36.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining field event winners were Kasey Ederer in the high jump with a leap of 5-2 1/4 and Melanie Brickner in the 20-pound weight throw with a distance of 57-9 3/4. Brickner also finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 43-7 3/4 and Ederer fifth in the triple jump with a skip of 32-3.

Completing the Titans' list of second-place finishers were Becklyn Hunter in the 60-meter dash at 7.98, Stephanie Jahn in the 400-meter run at 59.31, Sonny Jenkins in the 800-meter run at 2:18.07, Brooke Holloway in the high jump at 5-0 1/4, Stefanie Weber in the pole vault at 10-0 and Abby Martin in the shot put at 45-2 1/2.

UW-Oshkosh had four third-place mentions as Caitlyn McCormick posted a time of 59.65 in the 400-meter run, Betsy Gray an effort of 5:59.38 in the mile run, Rheamarie Fiorita a performance of 11:12.33 in the 3,000-meter run and Blue a distance of 16-8 3/4 in the long jump.

Rounding out the Titans fourth-place finishes were Alesha Malueg in the 60-meter dash at 8.07, Macy Egan in the 3,000-meter run at 11:27.41, Cassandra Hemmen in the long jump at 16-0 1/2, Haley Schatzke in the triple jump at 32-5 and Martin in the 20-pound weight throw at 47-11 3/4.

Other Titans finishing fifth were Courtney Pitts in the 60-meter dash at 8.42 and Schatzke in the high jump at 4-8 1/4.

UW-Oshkosh's Elizabeth Abhold recorded a pair of sixth-place finishes after marking distances of 47-1 in the 20-pound weight throw and 39-7 1/4 in the shot put. The Titans received sixth-place efforts from Holloway in the triple jump at 32-3 3/4, Mariah McMullen in the 800-meter run at 2:25.81 and Brenna Martyn in the long jump at 14-4 1/2.

UW-Oshkosh hosts a quadrangular involving three other WIAC teams next Saturday (Feb. 15).
