Bio

Robert Henshaw begins his sixth season as head coach of the UW-Oshkosh women's tennis program. He served as the interim coach in 2015 before being selected as the full-time head coach in 2016.

Henshaw has guided the Titans to a 35-44 dual-meet record, including a 15-15 mark in the WIAC, during his first five seasons.

Last season Henshaw and UW-Oshkosh had an 8-4 dual meet record and placed fourth in the conference with a 3-3 mark. The Titans, whose .667 winning percentage in dual meets was the program’s best since going 14-5 (.737) in 2000, finished fourth at the WIAC Championship to qualify for the WIAC Team Tournament semifinals. However, the league’s team tournament was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. UW-Oshkosh had a pair of runner-up performances at the WIAC Championship as Samantha Koppa finished second at No. 2 Singles, becoming the first Titan since 2011 to make a singles final, while Koppa and Kelley Hodyl also advanced the finals at No.1 Doubles.

During the 2018 campaign, Henshaw's Titans went 5-11 in dual matches and finished fourth in the WIAC with a 3-3 record. UW-Oshkosh went on to place fourth at the WIAC Championship and qualify for the four-team conference championship tournament.

In 2017 Henshaw and the Titans produced an 8-9 record, including a 3-3 mark in WIAC play. The Titans placed fourth in both the WIAC standings and WIAC Championship before finishing third at the league team tournament.

In 2016 Henshaw's squad compiled a 9-11 overall record and 3-3 in WIAC play. The Titans finished fourth in the WIAC standings, fourth at the WIAC Championship and third at the league's team tournament.

During Henshaw's debut season in 2015, UW-Oshkosh produced a 5-9 dual-meet record, including 3-3 in the WIAC. UW-Oshkosh placed fourth in the league standings, fourth at the WIAC Championship and third at the league's team tournament.

Henshaw, who has more than 20 years of tennis instruction, came to UW-Oshkosh from the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center, where he served as the organization's program director and head tennis teaching professional since 2013.

Henshaw has held previous head coaching positions at Ripon College and Kimberly High School. He guided the men's tennis program at Ripon College in 2010 and the Kimberly High School boys and girls teams from 2009-11.

Henshaw also trained a variety of age groups as a tennis instructor and tennis professional at the New Canaan Racquet and Woodway Country clubs in Connecticut.

Henshaw holds a Certified Tennis Teaching Professional license from the United States Professional Tennis Association.

As a player Henshaw competed for Neenah High School and was a state doubles champion in 1996. He was named UW-Eau Claire's Newcomer of the Year and Doubles Most Valuable Player in 1997.

Henshaw, who owns a 5.0 player rating, finished 2015 ranked among the top five men's singles players in Wisconsin.

Henshaw, a 2001 University of Oregon graduate, also taught biology at Bonduel High School from 2011-13.
