Titans Extend Winning Streak To Four Matches

UW-Oshkosh won its fourth straight women's tennis match by defeating Milwaukee School of Engineering, 8-1, on Wednesday (Oct. 9) at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Courts.

UW-Oshkosh, which also outscored UW-Stevens Point, St. Norbert College and UW-River Falls during its current winning streak, swept the doubles competition and won five of six singles contests against Milwaukee School of Engineering (7-7).

Alyssa Leffler was victorious at both No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles for UW-Oshkosh (6-2). She defeated Katie Clements, 6-2, 6-0, after teaming with Michelle Spicer for an 8-1 victory over Leah Becker and Hannah Marron.

Titan Samantha Koppa was a winner at both No. 2 singles and No.1 doubles. She recorded a 6-0, 6-2 win over Marron and paired with Kelley Hodyl for an 8-5 victory over Clements and Cierra Smith.

The No. 3 doubles contest went to UW-Oshkosh as Evie Chitko and Lesley Kutnink edged Kim Baffin and Yuti Modi, 8-6.

Other individual winners for UW-Oshkosh were Hodyl in the third flight, Spicer in the fourth and Kutnink in the fifth. Hodyl defeated Smith, 6-3, 6-1, while Spicer ousted Becker, 6-0, 6-1. Kutnink was a 6-1, 6-1 victor over Baffin.

The lone victory for the Raiders was at No. 6 singles, where Modi defeated Courtney Salisbury, 4-6, 6-4 (6).

UW-Oshkosh hosts pair of WIAC opponents this weekend at Valley Fitness & Racquet in Neenah. The Titans will welcome visits from UW-Eau Claire on Saturday (Oct. 12) and UW-Stout on Sunday (Oct. 13).
