Titans Conquer Green Knights

The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team won five of six singles contests and two of three doubles competitions in registering a 7-2 victory over St. Norbert College on Saturday (Sept. 28) in Ashwaubenon.

Four Titans were double winners against the Green Knights (5-3), including Alyssa Leffler who posted victorious results at both No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles. Leffler teamed with Michelle Spicer to defeat Morgan Moxon and Bethany Zoch, 8-0, before earning a 6-4, 6-0 triumph over Lauren Paulson. Spicer later went on to defeat Hannah Keller by 6-3, 6-3 scores at No. 4 singles.

Kelley Hodyl and Samantha Koppa gave UW-Oshkosh (4-2) a win at No. 1 doubles with their 8-4 victory over Paulson and Hannah Swajanen. Both Titans then won their individual contests as Hodyl defeated Nicole Pfotenhauer, 6-3, 6-0, in the third flight while Koppa ousted Swajanen, 6-1, 6-1, in the second.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining individual winner was Lesley Kutnink, who marked a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Emma Merrill in the fifth flight.

St. Norbert College recorded its two team points with wins by Keller and Merrill at No. 3 doubles and Zoch at No. 6 singles. Keller and Merrill defeated Kutnink and Taylor Johnson, 8-5, while Zoch ousted Evie Chitko, 6-1, 6-3.

Saturday's victory was UW-Oshkosh's 19th in its last 26 meetings with St. Norbert College.
