Titans Produce Easy Win Over Pointers

UW-Oshkosh swept the three doubles contests and cruised an 8-1 victory over UW-Stevens Point in a women's tennis match held Thursday (Sept. 26) at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Courts.

Winners for the Titans in doubles play were Kelley Hodyl and Samantha Koppa in the first flight, Alyssa Leffler and Michelle Spicer in the second and Taylor Johnson and Lesley Kutnink in the third.

Hodyl and Koppa defeated Barbara Covek and Jenna Koepp, 8-4, while Leffler and Spicer ousted Nancy Cozzi and Lillie James, 8-0. Johnson and Kutnink beat Kate Bechard and Anna Dobbe by an 8-7 (5) result.

UW-Oshkosh (3-2, 1-2 WIAC) recorded four convincing wins in singles play, including Leffler's 6-0, 6-0 victory over Covek in the first flight and Spicer's 6-0, 6-1 triumph over James in the third.

The Titans also received individual wins from Koppa in the second flight, Hodyl in the third and Kutnink in the fifth.

Koppa and Kutnink won by 6-1, 6-1 counts over Koepp and Lauren Kuenzli, respectively, while Hodyl outscored Kaylee Woelfel, 6-2, 6-3.

UW-Stevens Point (3-4, 1-2 WIAC), which suffered its seventh straight loss to UW-Oshkosh, earned its lone team point on Dobbe's 6-3, 6-1 victory over Johnson at No, 6 singles.

UW-Oshkosh takes to the road for matches at St. Norbert College on Saturday (Sept. 27) and UW-River Falls on Sunday (Sept. 28).
