Titans Register Win Over Vikings
The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team won five of the six singles contests to erase a 2-1 deficit and defeat Lawrence University, 6-3, on Tuesday (Sept. 3) at Valley Fitness & Racquet in Neenah.
Samantha Koppa was UW-Oshkosh's lone multiple winner as she defeated Lauren Aturaliya, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2 singles while teaming with Evie Chitko to oust Aturaliya and Morgan Fisher, 8-1, at No. 2 doubles.
Other individual winners for the Titans (1-1) were Alyssa Leffler in the first flight, Michelle Spicer in the third, Lesley Kutnink in the fourth and Taylor Johnson in the fifth.
Leffler defeated Margot Connor, 7-6 (1), 6-2, while Spicer conquered Emma Koppa, 3-6, 6-4, 10-5. Koppa is the younger sister of UW-Oshkosh's Samantha Koppa.
Kutnink was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Fisher and Johnson a 6-3, 6-0 victor over Amelia Watson.
Lawrence University (0-2), which has lost 21 of its last 25 matches to UW-Oshkosh, received its only individual win from Jacki Healy in the sixth flight. Healy outlasted Chitko by a 7-6 (6), 5-7, 10-8 result.
The Vikings won the No. 1 doubles contest as Connor and Koppa defeated Leffler and Spicer, 8-4.
Healy and Watson gave Lawrence University a win at No. 3 doubles with their 8-5 decision over Johnson and Kutnink.
UW-Oshkosh returns to action Thursday (Sept. 5) at Ripon College.
