Titans Fall To Threshers

Llora Waldman was the lone UW-Oshkosh winner as the Titans dropped a 5-1 decision to the Bethel College (Kan.) women's tennis team on Thursday (March 26) in Hilton Head, S.C.

Waldman earned the victory with her 6-3, 7-6 (5) win over Rachel Herzog at No. 4 singles.

Bethel College (9-2) took control of the match by sweeping the doubles competition.

Allie Hipp and Madelyn Weaver won in the first flight for the Threshers, Herzog and Breanna Honer in the second and Kimberly Buzbee and Rachel Shogren in the third. Hipp and Weaver defeated Bailey Sagen and Erica Van Riper, 8-6, while Herzog and Honer ousted Waldman and DeGroot, 8-3. Buzbee and Shogren were victorious by an 8-5 score over Hannah Bostwick and Jessica Stark.

Bethel College, affiliated with the NAIA, clinched its victory with wins by Honer at No. 1 singles and Hipp at No. 2 singles. Honer defeated Van Riper, 6-2, 6-0, while Hipp outlasted Sagen, 3-6, 6-3, 10-4.

Three singles contests were stopped as the outcome of the match was already secured. UW-Oshkosh players involved in those contests were DeGroot in the third flight, Bostwick in the fifth and Stark in the sixth.

UW-Oshkosh (7-10) hosts NCAA Division I UW-Green Bay on April 10 at the Kolf Sports Center Complex.
