The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team opened its three-match trip to Hilton Head, S.C., with a 5-4 win over Nebraska Wesleyan University on Tuesday (March 24).
UW-Oshkosh (6-9) overcame a 2-1 deficit after the doubles competition by posting victories in four of the six singles contests.
Nebraska Wesleyan University (4-7) jumped to its early lead on wins by Natalie Cech and Katherine Ternent at No. 1 and Jaime Bridges and Gaby Chapparo at No. 2 doubles. Cech and Ternent defeated Bailey Sagen and Erica Van Riper, 8-4, while Bridges and Chaparro ousted Jessica DeGroot and Llora Waldman, 8-3.
UW-Oshkosh took the No. 3 doubles contest as Hannah Bostwick and Paige Ganser defeated Courtney Harder and Victoria Van De Veer, 8-1.
In singles play, UW-Oshkosh owned the winner in flights three through six.
Waldman posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over Cech in the third flight, while Bostwick marked a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Bridges in the fourth. Ganser contributed a 6-4, 7-5 win over Van De Veer in the fifth flight and Jessica Stark a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Harder in the sixth.
The Prairie Wolves received individual wins from Chaparro in the first flight and Ternent in the second. Both players won by 6-2, 6-3 scores, with Chaparro defeating Van Riper and Ternent ousting DeGroot.
UW-Oshkosh takes to the court against Elmhurst College (Ill.) on Wednesday (March 25) in Hilton Head.
