Wolves Run Away From Titans

Cardinal Stritch University won all six singles contests in straight sets as it defeated the UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team, 9-0, on Friday (Sept. 20) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex.

The Wolves were led by Emily Kaftan's 6-0, 6-0 victory over Andrea Larson at No. 6 singles, Katiuska Adarmes' 6-1, 6-0 win over Valerie Langkau at No. 3 and Natalie Grieve's 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Erica Van Riper at No. 4.

Other individual winners for Cardinal Stritch University (3-0) were Amanda Timm in the first flight, Alexi Loomis in the second and Jitsupa Stirnit in the fifth. Timm defeated Morgan Counts, 6-0, 6-3, while Loomis ousted Brianna Theobald, 6-0, 6-4. Stirnit posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Llora Waldman.

Cardinal Stritch University, which is affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, won 24 of the 30 games in doubles action. The Wolves were led by the 8-0 victory of Adarmes and Stirnit over Theobald and Hannah Bostwick in the second flight.

UW-Oshkosh (4-3) staged its biggest battle at No. 1 doubles, where Counts and Van Riper lost an 8-5 decision to Loomis and Timm.

Cardinal Stritch University took the win at No. 3 doubles as Kaftan and Grieve marked an 8-1 victory over Waldman and Maggie Bolton.

UW-Oshkosh plays its next four matches on the road, beginning at six-time defending WIAC champion UW-Whitewater on Wednesday (Sept. 25).
