Titans Earn Another Shutout Victory Over Blugolds
Alek Kleis scored on her only shot as the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team defeated UW-Eau Claire, 1-0, on Saturday (Oct. 22) in Eau Claire.
Kleis tallied her match-winning goal off a pass from Maddie Morris during the contest's 73rd minute (72:14) of action. The goal was the second of the season for Kleis.
UW-Oshkosh (8-7-1, 3-3 WIAC), which has held UW-Eau Claire scoreless in its last six meetings, posted a 13-10 advantage in shots over the Blugolds. The Titans were led by the four shots from Robyn Elliott and the two from both Ashley Baalke and Rachel Elliott.
UW-Eau Claire (6-8-2, 3-2-1 WIAC) attempted 10 shots while earning five of the game's six corner kicks. The Blugolds were paced by the three shots from Hannah Jacobson and the two from Caroline Henderson.
UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Madelyn Runyan saved four shots for her third shutout of the season. She blocked two UW-Eau Claire shots in each half, including the last one with 7:56 remaining.
Samantha Lafaive saved seven shots while guarding the UW-Eau Claire goal. Lafaive allowed one goal while saving the five other shots she faced in the second period.
UW-Oshkosh hosts Marian University on Monday (Oct. 24) and UW-La Crosse next Saturday (Oct. 29) in its final regular-season matches.
