Titans Defeat Blugolds With Second-Half Goal

Rachel Elliott scored the winning goal for the third time this season as the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team defeated UW-Eau Claire, 1-0, on Saturday (Oct. 18) in Eau Claire.

Elliott broke a scoreless contest when she rebounded a missed shot from teammate Felicia Retrum and sailed a short kick into the net during the 61st minute (60:15) of play. Elliott's team-leading sixth goal of the season came on her only shot of the contest.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Nina Muzi saved five shots, including four in the first half, to record her sixth shutout of the season. Muzi lowered her goals against average on the year to 0.68 with the performance.

UW-Oshkosh (8-6-1, 4-1 WIAC) posted a 12-10 advantage in shots, but UW-Eau Claire (4-9-1, 2-3 WIAC) earned all six of the game's corner kicks. The Blugolds attempted eight shots in the first half and the Titans eight in the second.

Nine different players took shots for UW-Oshkosh, including Retrum who launched three and Haley Burns who fired two.

UW-Eau Claire had eight players attempt shots. The Blugolds were led by the two shots from both Tara Dennehy and Teighlor Tvedt.

UW-Eau Claire goalkeeper Rachel Griffiths matched Muzi by saving five shots. She had four of those stops in the second half.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it hosts UW-La Crosse next Saturday (Oct. 25) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
