Maroons Snatch Overtime Decision From Titans

Sara Kwan scored in the second overtime session to give the University of Chicago (Ill.) women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Saturday (Sept. 6) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Kwan lifted her six-yard, game-winning shot to the right corner of the goal during the contest's 107th minute (106:21). Kwan earned her first score of the season by retrieving a ball from Whitley Cargile in front of the UW-Oshkosh goal.

UW-Oshkosh (1-2), which was playing in its home opener, dominated the flow of play during regulation. The Titans owned all 11 shots in the first half and six of the eight taken in the second period. The University of Chicago (3-0) took four of the six overtime shots.

Robyn Elliott launched four of UW-Oshkosh's 19 shots, including three on goal. The Titans also had Rachel Elliott attempt three shots and Kali Jahn two shots on goal.

The University of Chicago, which entered the match ranked 20th in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, totaled six shots. The two shots from both Kwan and Mia Calamari led the Maroons.

UW-Oshkosh held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Nina Muzi saved four shots, two in the second half and two in the first overtime.

The University of Chicago had two players guard its goal, Mallory Morse and Jacinda Reid. Morse played the first half and stopped three shots, while Reid played the remainder of the contest and saved three shots in the second half and one in the first overtime.

UW-Oshkosh is the host of Marian University on Wednesday (Sept. 10) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
