Foresters Pull Out Win Over Titans

Lake Forest College scored both goals in the second half as it defeated the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team, 2-0, on Sunday (Sept. 8) in Lake Forest, Ill.

The Foresters, who participated in the NCAA Division III Championship after winning the Midwest Conference title a year ago, took the lead when Michele Giurovici headed in a corner kick from Sam Hillis during the game's 59th minute (58:12).

Lake Forest College (3-1) doubled its advantage when Emily Keast scored in the 74th minute (73:31). Giurovici earned the assist after her shot bounced off UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Nina Muzi and was kicked in by Keast.

Goalkeeper Rachel Tenuta preserved the Foresters' victory by saving 11 of UW-Oshkosh's 16 shots. She stopped six shots in the first half and five in the second to record her first career shutout.

UW-Oshkosh (0-3-1) attempted eight shots in each period to control the flow of play. A total of 11 Titans launched shots, including Christina Mauthe who fired three and Amanda Baalke, Anna Beckerleg and Madeline Dallman who released two each.

Lake Forest College was held to seven shots, with two of them belonging to Giurovici.

UW-Oshkosh had two goalkeepers see action, including Muzi who saved one shot during the first 78:05 of play. Katie Berkopec didn't face a shot during her 11:55 of activity.
