Cashmore Named WIAC Wrestling Athlete Of The Week

UW-Oshkosh's Colten Cashmore was chosen as the WIAC Kwik Trip Wrestling Athlete of the Week for events held Dec. 9-15.

Cashmore, competing at 197 pounds, compiled a 4-1 record while wrestling opponents from North Central College (Ill.), Olivet College (Mich.), University of Mount Union (Ohio), Heidelberg University (Ohio) and Baldwin Wallace University (Ohio).

Cashmore began his week's activity with a 2-0 loss to North Central College's Ben Bergen on Dec. 12. The Titans won just two matches as they lost a 32-9 road decision to the Cardinals.

Cashmore then went unbeaten in four contests at the Kalahari Duals held Dec. 14 in Sandusky, Ohio. He pinned Heidelberg University's Austin Smith in 3:41 and won results of 3-2 over Olivet College's Trevor Piggott, 4-0 over University of Mount Union's Landon Talbert and 3-1 over Baldwin Wallace University's Zackary Lehman. Lehman was a seventh-place finisher in the 197-pound weight class at last year's NCAA Division III Championship.

UW-Oshkosh tallied a 1-3 record at the Kalahari Duals. The Titans' lone victory was a 31-12 decision over Heidelberg University.

The Titans suffered their three defeats, all to nationally ranked opponents, by scores of 22-21 to Olivet College, 29-6 to University of Mount Union and 23-18 to Baldwin Wallace University.

The University of Mount Union entered the tournament ranked sixth in the NCAA Division III by the National Wrestling Coaches Association while Baldwin Wallace University listed seventh and Olivet College 25th.
