Pointers Register Win Over Titans

The UW-Oshkosh wrestling team concluded its WIAC dual meet schedule with a 45-3 loss to UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday (Jan. 20) in Stevens Point.

UW-Stevens Point reached its team score with the help of four pins, including two under 55 seconds.

The Pointers opened the match with pins by Jordan Koranda at 197 pounds and Bo Seibel at 285. Koranda pinned Alan Dahlke in 4:59, while Seibel followed with a pin of Matthew Veneskey in 4:54.

UW-Stevens Point (5-9, 2-1 WIAC) took an 18-0 lead with Ben Vosters' forfeit victory at 125 pounds.

The lone UW-Oshkosh (1-5, 1-4 WIAC) conquest came at 133 pounds, where Jonathan Flores edged Michael Bannach, 3-1, to make the score 18-3.

UW-Stevens Point went ahead 29-3 with wins by Jared Kust at 141 pounds, Austin Worachek at 149 and Anthony Friese at 157. Kust defeated Craig Mason, 4-0, while Worachek ousted Lance Arendt, 22-6. Friese registered a 9-3 win over Hunter Mulock.

The Pointers made it a 41-3 score with back-to-back pins in less than a minute each from Logan Hermsen and Dan Squires. Hermsen pinned Parker Knueppel in 54 seconds, while Squires pinned Michael Berg in 53.

UW-Stevens Point closed the match with Taylor Beaman's 12-2 victory over Korey Kleinhans at 184 pounds.

UW-Oshkosh wrestles UW-Eau Claire, Cornell College (Iowa), and North Central College (Ill.) at UW-Whitewater's Border Brawl on Saturday (Jan. 24).
