Titans Earn Road Win Over Pioneers

UW-Oshkosh fell behind early before storming back to defeat the UW-Platteville wrestling team, 23-10, on Wednesday (Jan. 8) in Platteville.

The Pioneers (1-5/1-4 WIAC) won the first contest as Zach Stenger posted an 8-5 win over Scott Worlund at 125 points. Stenger scored six points in the third period to earn the victory.

UW-Oshkosh (2-4/2-1 WIAC) evened the overall score when Craig Mason edged Cole Ferguson, 11-9, at 133 pounds. Mason sealed the win with his two-point takedown in the third session.

UW-Platteville took a 7-3 lead when Mason Bohm defeated Hunter Mulock, 12-1, at 141 pounds. Bohm scored five of his points in the first period.

It was nearly all UW-Oshkosh the rest of the match as the Titans won six of the next seven contests.

Jerome Scott cut UW-Oshkosh's deficit to 7-6 when he marked a 4-2 overtime win over Emeric Williams at 149 pounds. The Titans went in front moments later as two-time NCAA Division III champion Nazar Kulchytskyy pinned Aaric Spencer in 80 seconds at 157 pounds.

UW-Oshkosh increased its lead to 21-7 on shutouts by Tom Dahlke at 165 pounds and Dan Schiferl at 174. Dahlke crushed Trenton Larson, 15-0, while Schiferl overpowered Dylan DeShane, 10-0. Dahlke scored 14 of his points in the opening period.

The Titans went in front 24-7 on Korey Kleinhans' 5-4 win over Devin Johnson at 184 pounds.

UW-Platteville made the score 24-10 with Bryant Etherton's 5-4 triumph over Alan Dahlke at 197 pounds.

UW-Oshkosh ended the match with Brandon Clapper's 8-2 win over Brandon Boyle at 285 pounds.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it wrestles at UW-La Crosse on Jan. 17.
