Gilot, Sawyer & Tkaczuk Collect All-America Accolades

Three members of the UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team earned All-America awards for their performances during the 2020 season from the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association.

Titans recognized to the Division III squad were sophomore Emily Gilot and freshman Trinity Sawyer on the vault and senior Baylee Tkaczuk on the uneven bars. It is the fifth All-America citation overall for Tkaczuk and the third for Gilot.

The NCGA presented All-America decorations to the top four season average scorers in each of the four events and the all-around competition from the organization's East and West regions. Awards were based on the regular season as the NCGA Championship scheduled for March 27 in Ithaca, N.Y., was canceled due to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic.

Gilot competed in all nine of UW-Oshkosh's meets this season and ranked second in the West Region and second nationally on the vault with her average score of 9.7438. She recorded a career-best figure of 9.775 on the vault during competitions at the Texas Woman's University Quadrangular on Jan. 26 and against Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) on Feb. 29.

At the WIAC Championship held March 7, Gilot was UW-Oshkosh's lone event champion. She achieved a winning score of 9.75 on the vault while placing eighth on the uneven bars with a figure of 9.475.

Gilot earned a pair of All-America awards at last year's NCGA Championship in Oshkosh with her finishes of sixth in the floor exercise and eighth on the vault.

Sawyer participated in all but one of UW-Oshkosh's nine meets this season and ranked fourth in the West Region and seventh nationally on the vault with her average score of 9.650. She recorded a season-best count of 9.775 on the vault while attending the Harley-Davidson Invitational on Feb. 7.

Sawyer performed at this year's WIAC Championship and finished seventh in the floor exercise and 16th on the uneven bars with scores of 9.55 and 9.30, respectively.

Tkaczuk competed in each UW-Oshkosh meet this season and ranked second in the West Region and fifth nationally on the uneven bars with her average score of 9.6625. She recorded a season-best mark of 9.75 on the uneven bars at the Texas Woman's University Quadrangular.

At this year's WIAC Championship, Tkaczuk finished second on the uneven bars with a score of 9.675 and 18th on the balance beam with a count of 9.375. She was the balance beam champion at the 2017 WIAC Championship.

Tkaczuk also took first place on the uneven bars at the 2017 and 2018 NCGA Championships. Her winning score of 9.85 on the apparatus in 2018 established a championship record. Tkaczuk finished fourth nationally on the uneven bars in 2019 and sixth on the balance beam in 2018 to earn All-America honors.

UW-Oshkosh compiled an 8-1 record against its seven WIAC rivals during the regular season and defeated all of its challengers at the 2020 league championship with its winning score of 189.675. The Titans' 15th WIAC title earned them a berth into the six-team NCGA Championship that was later canceled.
