Titans Rule Over Blugolds

Jessica Bernardo won the all-around competition while earning top-six finishes in each of the other four categories to lead the UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team to a 183.025-179.175 victory over UW-Eau Claire on Friday (Jan. 25) in Kolf Sports Center.

Bernardo calculated a season-best 36.575 points in the all-around competition to defeat one other contestant. She also recorded third-place scores of 9.375 in the floor exercise and 9.20 on the balance beam, a fourth-place mark of 9.05 on the uneven bars and a sixth-place figure of 8.95 on the vault.

UW-Oshkosh had two other first-place finishers as Kaira Hammond won the balance beam with a score of 9.55 and Rahdea Jarvis the floor exercise with a season-best rating of 9.625. Hammond also finished second on the uneven bars and third on the vault with scores of 9.325 and 9.05, respectively.

The Titans concluded their sweep of the top four listings in the floor exercise with Bailey Finin's second-place score of 9.525 and Amira Ali's fourth-place mark of 9.35. Ali also placed third on the vault with a score of 9.05 and sixth on the balance beam with a count of 8.90.

UW-Oshkosh's Emily Gilot contributed a second-place score of 35.50 in the all-around competition and a third-place grade of 9.225 on the uneven bars.

The Titans' Olivia Keller finished second on the balance beam with a score of 9.475.

UW-Eau Claire owned the highest score in two events, including the vault where Lauralynn Anderson and Andrea Gessner shared the top mention with scores of 9.10. The Blugolds' Hannah Lewis won the uneven bars with a score of 9.35.

UW-Oshkosh, ranked sixth in the country by the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association, recorded season-best team scores of 47.050 in the floor exercise and 45.475 on the uneven bars. The Titans also compiled team results of 45.775 on the balance beam and 44.725 on the vault.

Seventh-ranked UW-Eau Claire tallied team counts of 45.400 in the floor exercise, 45.025 on the uneven bars, 44.575 on the vault and 44.175 on the balance beam.

UW-Oshkosh's dual victory over UW-Eau Claire was its first since a 183.375-182.50 win on Jan. 16, 2015.

UW-Oshkosh hosts the last of three consecutive home meets next Friday (Feb. 1) when ninth-ranked Winona State University (Minn.) visits Kolf Sports Center.
