Balanced Effort Leads Warriors Past Titans

The wealth was distributed evenly for Winona State University as four Warriors won events during a narrow 183.125-182.425 women's gymnastics victory over UW-Oshkosh on Tuesday (Feb. 9) in Winona, Minn.

UW-Oshkosh's Krystal Walker won the all-around competition with 37.00 points, but the remaining first-place victories belonged to Winona State University.

Walker earned her all-around score with 9.475 points on the balance beam, 9.425 on the vault, 9.35 in the floor exercise and 8.75 on the balance bars. She placed second in the meet on the balance beam, fifth on the vault and sixth in the floor exercise.

The Warriors received winning scores of 9.60 from Katie Carling in the floor exercise, 9.575 from Jade Donaldson on the vault, 9.55 from Natalie Koehler on the balance beam and 9.40 from Katie Pipp on the uneven bars.

In addition to Walker, UW-Oshkosh had three other place winners on the balance beam as Kasandra Stamopoulos finished third with 9.20 points, Amanda McBrayer fourth with 9.10 and Bailey Finin fifth with 9.075.

McBrayer and Stamopoulous also contributed sixth-place scores of 9.375 on the vault and 8.875 on the uneven bars, respectively.

The Titans' Kimberly Robertson placed third on the vault with 9.50 points, while Bailey Finin and Danielle Turner both finished fourth with scores of 9.125 on the vault and 9.475 in the floor exercise, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh led 136.80-135.85 going into the last rotation, but Winona State University claimed the top three performances and recorded a season-best 47.275 points in the floor exercise to rally past the Titans. The Warriors also tallied 47.20 points on the vault, 44.85 on the balance beam and 43.80 on the uneven bars.

The Titans reached their overall value with 46.475 points on the vault, 46.45 in the floor exercise, 45.625 on the balance beam and 43.875 on the uneven bars. UW-Oshkosh's score on the vault was its second highest of the season.

UW-Oshkosh hosts defending WIAC champion UW-Whitewater on Saturday (Feb. 13) in Kolf Sports Center.
