Priebe Establishes A Pair Of School Records In Iowa

Erika Priebe established UW-Oshkosh records for both 18 and 36 holes while tying for fourth place in the individual competition at the Wartburg College Women's Golf Invitational held Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 7-8) in Waverly, Iowa.

Priebe, who finished 14th with 154 strokes at last year's tournament, totaled 145 strokes (1-over-par) on this year's Prairie Links Golf Course to share fourth place with Jordan Amelon of St. Catherine University (Minn.).

Priebe's school-record score for 36 holes was aided by her five birdies and 25 pars. She tallied 74 strokes for the first 18 holes of the event and a school-record 71 for the second.

Three players tied for first place among the meet's 170 golfers with 142 strokes (2-under-par), including Alyssa Akiyama and Kristin Miyagi from Carleton College (Minn.). Claudia Kim of the University of Thomas (Minn.) was also involved in the tie for the top individual listing.

A pair of Titans, Hannah Braun and Margherite Pettenuzzo, tied for 26th place with 155 strokes. Both players registered 77 strokes on the first day of competition and 78 on the second. Braun's score was obtained with the assistance of the tournament's lone eagle, two birdies and 22 pars. Pettenuzzo acquired her figure with the help of four birdies and 19 pars.

The Titans also had Hanna Rebholz place 34th with 157 strokes, Lauryn Davis 73rd with 168 and Dianna Scheibe 77th with 169. Rebholz concluded the tournament with 21 pars.

UW-Oshkosh finished eighth in the 17-team field with 619 strokes (22-over-par). The Titans, who were just two strokes out of sixth place, accumulated 309 strokes on the first day of activity and 310 on the second. UW-Oshkosh's overall count included one eagle, 14 birdies and 92 pars.

St. Catherine University won the team title with 602 strokes (26-over-par) while Carleton College placed second with 608, University of St. Thomas third with 610, Bethel University (Minn.) fourth with 611 and UW-Whitewater fifth with 612. St. Catherine University, Carleton College, University of St. Thomas and Bethel University are all members of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

UW-Oshkosh competes at the Division III Classic next Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 14-15) at the Emerald Greens Golf Course in Hastings, Minn.
