Titans Place Ninth At Kollege Town Sports Invitational

UW-Oshkosh hosted the Kollege Town Sports Men's Cross Country Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 19) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne and the result was a ninth-place finish for the Titans.

The meet featured 452 runners and representation from 34 collegiate programs.

The top UW-Oshkosh finisher in the 8,000-meter race was Cody Chadwick, who placed 27th with a time of 25:37. Chadwick finished 75th among the 350 runners at last year's meet.

UW-Oshkosh had two other runners finish in the top 100, Andrew Rathkamp who placed 61st with a time of 26:01 and Steven Potter who finished 96th in 26:26.

The Titans also had Andrew George finish 108th with a time of 26:36, Mitchell Bradford 125th in 26:46, Spencer Muffler 135th in 26:51, Andrew Muskevitsch 146th in 27:00, Noah Bruehl 156th in 27:08, Joe Kehoe 186th in 27:29 and Jason Ford 224th in 27:55.

Nick Matteucci from Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) captured the individual title with a time of 24:44. Matthew Osmulski from North Central College (Ill.) finished second in 24:51, Joe Freiburger from Wartburg College (Iowa) third in 24:55, Ryan Cutter from University of Chicago (Ill.) fourth in 24:58 and Alec Beutel from North Central College fifth in 25:05. Osmulski also finished second in last year's race.

Three-time defending NCAA Division III champion North Central College scored 46 points to win its second straight Kollege Town Sports Invitational title. The Cardinals were followed by second-place Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (Calif.) with 79 points, third-place Wartburg College with 102 and fourth-place University of Chicago and Washington University in St. Louis with 105.

Rounding out the top 10 teams were sixth-place Calvin University (Mich.) with 114 points, seventh-place UW-Stout with 227, eighth-place UW-Eau Claire with 246, ninth-place UW-Oshkosh with 303 and 10th-place Wheaton College (Ill.) with 387.

North Central College entered Saturday's meet as the top-ranked NCAA Division III program in the nation by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Other nationally ranked Division III teams competing in the meet were third-ranked Wartburg College, fourth-ranked Washington University in St. Louis, ninth-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, 10th-ranked University of Chicago, 13th-ranked Calvin University, 23rd-ranked UW-Stevens Point, 28th-ranked UW-Eau Claire, 31st-ranked UW-Oshkosh and 33rd-ranked UW-Stout.

UW-Oshkosh will host a four-team meet Friday (Oct. 25) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club.
