Titans Rank Fourth At Brooks Invitational

The UW-Oshkosh men's cross country team took fourth place out of 37 teams at the UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational on Oct. 19 at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.

North Central College (Ill.), the top-ranked team in NCAA Division III, won the event with 33 points. North Central was led by John Crain, who took first place with a time of 24:21.

North Central was followed by Washington University (Mo.) in second place with 64 points. UW-Eau Claire finished third with 133, followed by UW-Oshkosh with 152 and Division II UW-Parkside with a score of 223.

Behind Crain was Andrew Padgett of Washington University in second at 24:27. Jessop Keene of UW-Stout took third place (24:33), followed by Aaron Easker (24:41.22) in fourth and Washington's Kevin Sparks in fifth (24:41.46). Rounding out the top 10 was North Central's Roger Klein in sixth (24:43) and Aron Sebhat in seventh (24:47), Ryan Mugan of UW-Eau Claire in eighth (24:50), Bethel's Matt Berens in ninth (24:51) and Washington's Michael Ellenberger in 10th (24:51). 

Derek Johnsrud paced the Titans with a time of 25:04, good for 16th place overall. Finishing back-to-back at 27th and 28th were McKena Ramos and Sean Kutz, who both clocked a 25:15.

The next Titan finisher was Kenny Halloran, who took 60th at 25:43. Ryne Scopp finished in 25:50 to take 74th and close out the scoring for UW-Oshkosh.

Jordan Carpenter took 119th place with a time of 26:15. Matt Champan listed 123rd after finishing in 26:17 and Mike Foust 162nd at 26:33. Joe Zack earned 169th place for the Titans at 26:37, while Tyler Miletti and Mitch Pauers took 185th and 190th with times of 26:43 and 26:46, respectively.

Other Titans finishing in the top 300 were Jacob Hansen (27:00), Jacob Clarke (27:19) and Brett DeNure (27:29). The race featured 566 runners.

Also finishing for the Titans were Seth Schumacher (28:16), Alex Balister (28:43), Derrick Rufer (28:53), Jordan Black (29:10), Charlie Scott (29:30), Matt Lawrence (29:53) and Patrick McCorkle (32:38).

UW-Oshkosh's next meet will be the UW-Oshkosh Open on Oct. 25 at Lake Breeze.
