Thirteen Titans Receive Men's All-Region Track & Field Accolades

Thirteen members of the UW-Oshkosh men's indoor track & field team received NCAA Division III All-Midwest Region accolades from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

A total of 804 awards were distributed to the nation's eight Division III regions for the 2020 season. The top five individuals and the top three relay squads in each event from each region earned all-region distinction.

Repeating as All-Midwest Region from UW-Oshkosh were seniors Todd Beadle in the 1,600-meter relay and Roman Hill in the long jump, junior Justin Rivers in the high jump and sophomores Jamyle Brantley in the long jump, Steven Potter in the 800-meter run and Jonathan Wilburn in the triple jump.

Potter, who also earned All-Midwest Region in the mile run, was an all-region selection in the 1,600-meter relay a year ago.

Titans achieving their first All-Midwest Region decoration were freshman Jaylen Grant in the 60-meter dash, sophomore Jackson Sheckler in the shot put, freshman Lochlan Siegmeier in the heptathlon, senior Joe Vils in the pole vault and freshmen Ethan Burch and Adrian Girone and sophomore Amitai Wheat in the 1,600-meter relay.

All 13 of UW-Oshkosh's All-Midwest selections will compete at this weekend's NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship in Winston-Salem, N.C. The 36th edition of the championship will be held Friday and Saturday (March 13-14) at the JDL Fast Track.

UW-Oshkosh's list of participants for this weekend's national championship is led by Wilburn. He earned the meet's top triple jump seed following his school-record measurement of 50-3 1/4 at the Ripon College Red Hawk Opener held Jan. 25. Wilburn marked a triple jump distance of 49-1 3/4 at the WIAC Championship held Feb. 28-29 to win the event for the second straight year.

Grant is seeded fourth in the 60-meter dash for the national meet with his season-best and school-record time of 6.81 seconds from the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge held Feb. 22. He finished second in the event at last month's WIAC Championship.

Potter is seeded fifth in the 800-meter run for the national championship with his second-place and season-best time of 1:52.70 from the WIAC Championship.

The Titans' 1,600-meter relay team of Beadle, Burch, Girone and Wheat is seeded second for the national meet with their season-best time of 3:16.83 from the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge.

Brantley is seeded eighth in the long jump for this weekend's national meet with his victorious and season-best leap of 23-9 1/2 from the WIAC Championship.

Hill is seeded 14th in the long jump for the national championship with his season-best measurement of 23-5 1/2 from the Carthage College Final Qualifier held March 6. Hill was a third-place finisher at the WIAC Championship.

Rivers owns the 11th seed for the national meet in the high jump. He achieved a season-best height of 6-9 1/2 at the UW-Stevens Point Big Dawg Invitational held Feb. 8.

Sheckler enters the national meet as the eighth seed in the shot put. He earned that listing with a season-best throw of 56-5 1/4 in a dual meet against Lawrence University on Jan. 18. Sheckler finished second in the event at the WIAC Championship.

Siegmeier has the heptathlon's 19th seed for the upcoming national meet. He earned that ranking with his fifth-place and season-best score of 4,734 points at the WIAC Championship.

Vils is seeded eighth in the pole vault for the Division III Championship. He finished second with a season-best height of 16-1 1/4 at the WIAC meet.

There were six programs with 17 or more all-region honorees this year, including George Fox University (Ore.) with 26 and Massachusetts Institute of Technology with 20.

UW-Oshkosh and its seven other WIAC associates combined for 60 All-Midwest Region selections, including nine multiple award winners. UW-Eau Claire led the WIAC with 17 all-region selections.

UW-Eau Claire's Kyle Lueck and Dylan Cooper were named the Midwest Region's Track and Field Athlete of the Year, respectively. Chip Schneider from UW-Eau Claire was selected as the Midwest Region's Coach of the Year.
