Titans Tally 18 Top-Eight Finishes At UW-La Crosse Eagle Open

UW-Oshkosh won the 1,600-meter relay in counting 18 top-eight finishes at the UW-La Crosse Men's Track & Field Eagle Open held Friday (May 10) in La Crosse.

The Titans defeated three other squads in the 1,600-meter relay as Todd Beadle, Nick Freitag, Ryan Powers and Amitai Wheat posted a winning time of 3:15.10. The performance by the UW-Oshkosh quartet ranks eighth in the NCAA Division III this outdoor season. UW-Stevens Point placed second to UW-Oshkosh in the race with a time of 3:16.07.

UW-Oshkosh had three place winners in both the 100-meter dash and 5,000-meter run.

Robert Ogbuli finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.78 seconds while Aaron McCarroll-Richardson placed fifth in 10.88 and Christian Lopez sixth in 10.92. UW-Whitewater's Dwayne Ford won the sprint with a time of 10.74 seconds.

In the 5,000-meter run, Titans Cody Chadwick finished second with a time of 15:19.30, Noah O'Neill fifth in 15:38.15 and Joe Kehoe seventh in 15:41.84. UW-Stout's Aleksandr Ilyushev took first place in the event with a time of 15:13.29.

The Titans had one other second-place finisher as Jack Flynn measured a mark of 167-9 in the discus. Flynn's throw is the ninth best in the country. UW-Platteville's Ben Veverka won the event with a distance of 172-3.

UW-Oshkosh two place winners in the 110-meter hurdles, high jump, long jump and shot put.

Abel Christiansen finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.23 seconds while Darquise Winters placed seventh in 15.44. In the high jump, Justin Rivers listed fifth and Winters sixth with leaps of 6-5 1/2.

The long jump featured Roman Hill finishing third and Jamyle Brantley sixth with measurements of 23-0 1/2 and 22-7 1/4, respectively. Jackson Sheckler placed third in the shot put with a distance of 55-0 and Nick Tegtmeier fourth with a mark of 53-9 3/4. Sheckler now ranks eighth nationally in the shot put and Tegtmeier 12th.

UW-Oshkosh also received a fifth-place measurement of 178-10 in the hammer throw from Bailey Quinn and a seventh-place time of 57.82 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles from Christiansen.

The Titans had four participants at the North Central College Dr. Keeler Invitational held Thursday and Friday (May 9-10) in Naperville, Ill.

Steven Potter led UW-Oshkosh's entrants in the meet with his eighth-place time of 1:52.42 in the 800-meter run. Titan Andrew George finished 22nd in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:25.59.

The 800-meter run featured 89 contestants and the 3,000-meter steeplechase 60.  

The UW-La Crosse Eagle Open and the North Central College Dr. Keeler Invitational were both non-scoring meets.

UW-Oshkosh will be represented in three meets next week – the North Central College Gregory Invitational, the Augustana College (Ill.) Twilight Invitational and the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier. The North Central College Gregory Invitational begins Wednesday (May 15) and will also be held on Thursday (May 16) with the Augustana College Twilight Invitational and the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier.
