Titans Place Fourth At Rex Foster Invitational

Zachary Baehman and Kallen Bentz won events as the UW-Oshkosh men's track & field team began the outdoor season with a fourth-place finish at the Rex Foster Invitational on Friday (April 3) in Whitewater.

UW-Whitewater won its home meet with 218 points. UW-Stevens Point placed second with 148 points, followed by Michigan Tech University in third with 123 and UW-Oshkosh fourth with 114.5.

UW-Oshkosh entered the meet ranked seventh in the NCAA Division III by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association while the victorious Warhawks were ranked fifth.

Baehman won the shot put with a distance of 53-2 3/4, while Bentz claimed first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.38.

Placing second for the Titans were Kenny Halloran in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:00.10 and Mike Heinz in the discus throw with a distance of 157-8. Mike Heinz also placed third in the shot put with a toss of 51-3 1/2 and fourth in the hammer throw with a cast of 167-6. Halloran added a fourth-place finish in the 1,500-meter with a time of 4:08.99.

Also producing third-place showings for UW-Oshkosh were Mike Foust in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:05.21, Devan Gertschen in the pole vault with a height of 14-7 1/4, Aaron Monnot in the triple jump with a leap of 42-9, and Scott Heinz in the discus throw with a distance of 154-5. Scott Heinz also produced a seventh-place result in the hammer throw with a cast of 153-10.

UW-Oshkosh received fourth-place finishes from Nolan Peterson in the 100-meter dash (11.19), Nathan Nozzi in the 5,000-meter run (16:57.36) and Nick Grosskopf in the shot put (49-3 1/2). Grosskopf also added an eighth-place result in the hammer throw (153-9).

Finishing fifth for the Titans were Jaron Olson in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.19 and Joe Zack in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.63. Zack contributed a six-place result in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:11.81.

UW-Oshkosh's Ryan Paulick placed sixth in the hammer throw (154-2) and seventh in the shot put (45-5 1/4).

The Titans' remaining seventh-place finishers were Travis Maciosek in the high jump (5-10 3/4) and Matt McMullen in the pole vault (13-1 1/2).

Mike Finn rounded out UW-Oshkosh's scorers with an eighth-place result in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.67.

UW-Oshkosh travels to the UW-Platteville Invitational on Friday and Saturday (April 10-11).
