UW-Oshkosh Open Title Belongs To The Titans

UW-Oshkosh ran away from the competition in six events and in the team standings at the UW-Oshkosh Men's Track & Field Open on Friday (Feb. 6) in Kolf Sports Center.

Naji Allan continued to show his sprinting abilities in the 60-meter and 200-meter dash.  Allan remained undefeated for the season by posting times of 6.94 and 22.39 seconds respectively. Roberto Lara also continued his dominance in the 800-meter run in 2015 by recording a blistering time of 1:54.10.

Joe Zack won his event, the one mile run, by pacing for leading time of 4:16.69. Brian Beaudo hit the finish line first in the 400-meter dash in 49.59 seconds. Brian McKnight paced the field in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:35.29

Nick Grosskopf added a seventh first-place finish in the shot put with a put of 54-06 ½.

The Titans finished atop the six-team event with 250 points. St. Norbert College finished second with 143 points while the University of St. Francis (Ill.) finish third with 88 points. Ripon College was fourth with 37 points, Wisconsin Lutheran College fifth with 26 points, and Lakeland College sixth with four points.

Performances for UW-Oshkosh that placed second included Reid Zanoya running 400-meters in 49.74 seconds, Dakota Griffith with a leap of 6-0 1/2 in the high jump, Ebube in the long jump with mark of 21-11 1/2, and Grosskopf's 35-pound weight throw of 55-5.

The Titans received third place efforts from Jaron Olson with a time of 7.21 in the 60-meter dash, Ryne Scopp running the mile in 4:19.16, Devan Gertschen with a pole vault of 13-11 1/4, Mike Heinz with a toss of 54-10 3/4 in the weight throw, and Ebube with a mark of 43-0 1/2 in the triple jump.

There were seven fourth place efforts that covered the likes of Garrison Griest sprinting the finals of the 60-meter hurdles in 9.01 seconds, Mitch Pauers running 800 meters in 1:59.48, Erik Hofferber pacing for a time in the 3,000-meter of 8:54.95, Hunter Effra with leap of 21-6 1/4 in the long jump, Ebube with a height of 5-10 1/2 in the high jump, and Scott Heinz with a throw of 50-11 in the weight throw.

The mentions that earned fifth place for UW-Oshkosh were added by Nolan Peterson racing for a 60-meter dash time of 7.25 seconds, Charlend Howard completing the one mile run in 4:22.58, Kallen Bentz with a 400-meter dash of 50.57 seconds, Matt McMullen with a pole vault of 12-11 1/2, Bryce Mancheski staying on the board with a 21-5 1/2 long jump, and Ryan Paulick with a put of 50-2 1/2 in the shot put.

Rounding out the sixth-place finishers were Justin Skinkis running one mile in 4:23.77, Danny Trimner sprinting the 400-meter run in 51.02 seconds, Travis Maciosek's high jump of 5-8 1/2, Mike Heinz' toss in the shot put of 49-9 3/4, and Baehman's distance of 48-5 1/4 in the weight throw.

UW-Oshkosh will take part in a quadrangular in Whitewater on Feb. 14.
