Vikings Win Neutral Court Battle With Titans

Samuel Totten won at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles to lead the Augustana College (Ill.) men's tennis team to a 9-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Sunday (March 15) in Madison.

Totten defeated UW-Oshkosh's Mike Gillespie in the highest singles flight by a 7-6 (5), 6-1 result. He earlier teamed with Eric Pohl to defeat the Titans' top doubles tandem of Gillespie and Aidan Sauberlich by an 8-3 score.

Sauberlich and Logan Zastrow suffered narrow defeats for UW-Oshkosh (3-8) in singles play. Sauberlich lost 4-6, 6-1, 10-7 to Pohl in the second flight while Zastrow lost 6-7 (5), 6-1, 10-8 to Jonathon Elsey in the sixth.

Augustana College (7-5) took the remaining singles contests in straight sets, including Austin Schoeck's 7-5, 6-1 win over Vincent Gorski in the third flight.

The Vikings also had Patrick Lenz post a 6-1, 6-2 victory over David La Grange in the fourth flight and Harald Olsson mark a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Adam Martin in the fifth.

Augustana College concluded doubles play with wins from Lawrence Palmer and Connor Woolf in the second flight and Olsson and Schoeck in the third. Palmer and Woolf defeated Gorski and Martin, 8-3, while Olsson and Schoeck ousted La Grange and Zastrow, 8-6.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it plays Elmhurst College (Ill.) on March 23 in Hilton Head, S.C.
