Titans Rule Over Raiders

The UW-Oshkosh men's tennis team won for the third time in four matches by defeating the Milwaukee School of Engineering, 8-1, on Sunday (March 8) at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.

UW-Oshkosh (3-6) survived two close contests to take a 3-0 lead after the doubles competition. The Titans then won five singles contests in straight sets to coast to the overall victory.

Mike Gillespie and Aidan Sauberlich gave UW-Oshkosh a win at No. 1 doubles with their 8-3 triumph over Zachary Dam and David Gorodetsky.

The Titans took the remaining doubles contests by 8-6 scores as Vincent Gorski and Adam Martin defeated John Price and Tom Smith in the second flight while Austin Laumb and Logan Zastrow ousted Mason Sauder and Matthew Slaughter in the third.

In singles play, Gillespie and Martin lost only two games during their contests in the first and fourth flights, respectively. Gillespie tallied a 6-1, 6-1 win over Gorodetsky while Martin posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Slaughter.

UW-Oshkosh also collected individual wins from Sauberlich in the second flight, Zastrow in the fifth and David Leffler in the sixth. Sauberlich defeated Dam, 6-2, 7-6 (5), while Zastrow ousted Smith, 6-4, 6-1, and Leffler conquered Sauder, 6-2, 6-1.

The Milwaukee School of Engineering (4-8) earned its lone team point from Price's 6-3, 6-1 victory over Gorski at No. 3 singles.

UW-Oshkosh takes to the road for a match at Carthage College on Friday (March 13).
