Titans Remain Unbeaten With Win Over Foresters

UW-Oshkosh remained unbeaten on the young 2014 men's tennis season with a 9-0 victory over Lake Forest College (Ill.) on Friday (Feb. 21) in Janesville.

The shutout was the second in three matches for the Titans (3-0), who also defeated Lawrence University by a 9-0 score on Feb. 15.

Bobby Brooks led UW-Oshkosh by winning at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. He teamed with Kevin Lewis to defeat Ellis Lora-Arceo and Anthony Warren, 8-4, before ousting Warren in singles play by a 6-1, 6-0 result.

At No. 2 doubles, the UW-Oshkosh tandem of Mike Gillespie and Aidan Sauberlich overpowered Dragan Trivanovic and Jerry Wang, 8-1. Gillespie went on to post a 6-2, 6-0 win over Trivanovic at No. 3 singles, while Sauberlich conquered Anthony Mykhaylovskyy by a 6-3, 6-1 result at No. 4 singles.

UW-Oshkosh won at No. 3 doubles as Jason Alexander and Matt Brooks defeated Mykhaylovskyy and Derek Schaltz, 8-3. Alexander later marked a 6-2, 6-2 win over Wang at No. 5 singles.

Other singles winners for the Titans were Lewis in the second flight and Alex Yang in the sixth. Lewis beat Lora-Arceo, 6-1, 6-4, while Yang outlasted Jordan Stoler, 6-4, 6-4.

Lake Forest College falls to 2-3 with the loss.

UW-Oshkosh remains in Janesville to battle Wheaton College (Ill.) and UW-Whitewater on Saturday (Feb. 22).
